Nice Course but needs work
Sand bunkers have not been addressed. You can see the fabric coming up. Duck poops are at many greens. The TEE boxes have ben repaired. fairways are nice and many holes are scenic.
Sand bunkers and some portion of cart paths needs addressing. Otherwise a very good layout of course. Some challenging holes too.
Fairway is good greens is junk!!!
I like everything about this course but the greens mess everything if only they fix that issue it will be a great experience please so something about the greens and bunker
One of my favorites
Course overall was in nice shape and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. The greens we in good condition. I little longer and slower than what I'm use to in past rounds but I didn't notice any burned out spots. If this helps protect the greens from getting burned out I'm all for it. It didn't take long to get use to the greens and it helped on those tricky down hill puts. Bunkers needed some work but that seems to be the norm at many courses right now with no rakes being out due to Covid19. This is a course I play at least once a month and will be back very soon.
Geese everywhere
Beautiful coarse and friendly staff my only issue is that the greens were covered In geese and their crap.
First time playing this track, and I was impressed. Have always been a fan of Dennis Griffith courses, and this was no different. Tee to green this course was in pristine shape.
The only downside I would say is the greens. Several of the greens had geese crap and geese feeding on the green while trying to play approach shots, so it took some time to scatter them off and clean the land mines that might be between the ball and the hole. The greens were a bit slow but very true rolling.
Good Course
Course is overall in good shape. The problem here are the Cart Paths. They have broken out some flagrant concrete boulders but there are still many places where if you don't pay attention you can get hurt. No beverage cart even though the course was full. Greens need mowing. They were slow. Nice undulation on some greens.
Very Disappointed
I don’t even know where to begin...
I’ll start with the course layout and initial appeal. Upfront the course looks like it’s going to be a top notch experience for public courses. The kids at the bag drop set the tone, very professional and friendly. Pro shop staff, professional and willing to answer questions. The layout of the course itself is an A+ track. Marshals are constantly flowing through to keep pace of play up. Overheard a beverage cart associate say, “ ehhh it’s hot, I’m not going back out there”. (Mind you it’s peak season, it’s busy and there are no water coolers on the course)
Bunker/Green conditions.
I tried to overlook the lack of attention the bunkers have received. I get it, there’s no rakes for players but at least give the bunkers some attention for the weekend rounds. Many courses send staff out twice a day during peak weekend times to keep them presentable. Lastly... the greens. The greens get a 1/10 as far as conditions. The greens grass is longer than most of the grass on the fairways and this was not brought to attention for those paying via golf now. Unacceptable. To top it off, half of the holes you couldn’t put out on due to the overwhelming amounts of geese droppings (poop) all over them.
Poopy
Literally, the greens were COVERED in geese poo. And not just a little, but too much to clear your line. They had been aerated, which is fine for a little bit of sand. But they were also shaggy. Like, REALLY shaggy. The grass on the green was over an inch in some spots. The conditions keep declining and I keep telling myself I’ll never play here again, and this may be the final time.
Nice layout but need attention
Played 1st time as a newcomer this town.
Tried other two courses nearby. Including one private club. Layout this course the best
but cart the worst . Putting green is below average.. I want to join membership at this course when they fix two issues because i really love layout of this couse with not too many housing alongside of coursees.
St . Marlo
Very Nice course. I would have given it perfect marks if I had know that the greens were aerated and
sanded. But overall It was a good time had by all. I will be back in several weeks to see just how fast the greens have gotten.
Good round
We knew the green had been aerated and sanded however; the greens were pretty fussy and slow. I expect they will be in good shape in a couple weeks . The starter and rangers were very friendly.
Nice course but very bad cart paths
Course layout is great, Tee boxes have been repaired recently. Greens are sanded recently. But the biggest problem is the awful cart path. It can break your back if you are not paying attention.
There are nice scenic holes with deers popping up on hole 15. Pace of play was OK. Took 4 plus hours to finish.
Great course
Great course but tough. If you're not in the fairway it's going to be a long day
This course is very challenging but beautiful at the same time! I would recommend this course to serious golfers or more advanced players
Good Course Bad Cart Paths
Very good golf course with nice scenic holes. Some of the cart paths are terrible. if you don't pay attention, you may hurt your back!!
Management, please do something to fix the cart paths before it becomes a liability on medical claim!!
Mow your greens
You would think for charging $84 they would at least mow the greens on a Sunday morning. I'd guess the greens were rolling about a 6 on the stimp. Like putting on shag carpet. Not worth the money.
Great Layout, Beautiful Holes but Terrible Cart Paths
Very fun layout and hole variety. There are many are scenic and great golf holes due to elevation changes, layout and pretty settings. The greens run true and smooth with many humps, undulations and subtle breaks. The fairways and greens were great. The tee boxes also were in very nice condition. The course is great and lots of fun as it has lots of elevation changes and challenges. Holes 6, 7 and 14 are very scenic and fun to play.
The major issues at this course are the bunkers and cart paths. Several bunkers which had bare spots with little to no sand where the fabric lining of the bunker was showing. The cart parts are like you are driving off-road at the King of The Hammers off-road course. They are awful and if you don’t pay attention, you will jar and ruin your back. If this course was every cart path only, I would never obey the cart path only rule, just because the cart paths are so rough, bumpy and terrible. I am surprised someone has not gotten a serious injury from trying to navigate the bumpy, broken, jutting and jarring cart paths.
St Marlo does by far the best job of enforcing the COVID-19 distancing, cleaning and sanitizing guidelines.
Overall, very fun, enjoyable and a great course to play.
