Solid older course
The Shadow Mountain course is scenic and playable. While the fairways are generally wide, the overall feeling while playing is that it is very cramped, needing about 30% more acreage to work better. Tee boxes are narrow and in many instances two or three tee boxes are within a stone’s throw of each other. Signage for navigating the course could be better - a map of the course on the scorecard would hep. Housing is very close to some fairways and many tee boxes. Of course, nothing can be done about the cramped arrangement, but it is a problem that reduces the good feeling while playing there. There was a club event ahead of us and the course played very slow: for a shortish course, five hours for 18 holes is too long. The course is in good condition, greens were very playable and even the traps were in good shape. Not much water was in play. The greens fees are a bargain.

Nice to see the effort being made by new owner to improve the level of finish, to establish a new putting green, etc etc. I will definitely return.

This course is in great shape and fun to play. Not too long, wide open and a beautiful view of the mountains. We will play it again when we return Palm Desert.

Slow play
Need marshal to keep walkers and slow players moving. Three empty holes ahead of the two groups ahead of us. 4 hours on a 3 hour course is not much fun!!

Get what you pay for
This course was shorter and tighter than most in the PS area. It was a bit too overlapping for my tastes.
Good for the recreational golfer looking for a value priced alternative. Nice and helpful staff.

Good value and a decent round
It's a good 5,400 yard, par 70. It's rough around the edges, but a fun and interesting layout that calls for all the shots and makes for an interesting and enjoyable round. The narrow fairways make it more challenging than the yardage would indicate. Houses are a bit close in places, but that's true of a number of the courses in the valley.

Sand traps were nice and fluffy. Much better than most courses in the area. Greens were very good..
