Fun, tight course
For the Fresno area, this course stands out with its layout. It's a fun challenge and my favorite course to play.
Fun Course
I booked the tee time same day and received a call letting me know that due to heavy rains that week, they were not allowing carts on the golf course. They allowed me to cancel if I wanted, but I played anyway.
Nice course despite the weather conditions.
Watch out for hole 9. I sent one deep into the creek/bushes, and as I went to look for my ball it was in the middle of the fairway 75 yards from the pin. Coincidence? I think not..... happy golf ghosts yes!
Awesome course!
First time play ,had a great time! Will be back with friends soon.
June 18
Everything is in good condition. Greens slow but mostly smooth. Still a few tee shots (8, 9, 11) where the back tees are blocked by trees. Shaping shots is part of the game, but when the only line off the tee aims you directly at the trouble it is time to trim.
Jan 2018
Winter dormancy with areas of green. Greens on the slow side but most were in good shape.
A noticeable improvement over last winter
A Possible Return To Glory Days
I first got hooked on golf playing in a scramble here 30+ years ago, and typically play 9 holes or practice here 10-20 times each year. The past few years the course quality has tumbled quite a bit, most likely due to the extreme weather and perhaps some neglect. But in past few months great improvements have been made. Played 9 holes this past weekend and wow...best greens and fairways in years. If they can maintain this quality I would expect more tournaments to return here. Nice staff too, great little clubhouse, and good range.

Quick update
The course has made big strides to returning playing conditions to normal levels. Still a few areas to get caught up on, but the work they have put in is very noticeable. Kudos to the grounds crew for such a quick turnaround. Once again this is the scenic fun course I remember. Did I mention the trees always being in the way. The tee shots on 8 and 11 are small gaps and 9 was all the way back and required a big fade/slice.
Spring 2017
I have rated this course previously and have always given it two stars, always based on conditioning that is below average. The conditions have worsened.
The layout is scenic and challenging due to the narrow shots and angles created by the trees and I normally recommend play but until conditions change I temporarily do not recommend.
I do not know if the current conditions are due to a lack of manpower or equipment failure.
Fairways- many had rough length grass and all were too long for fairway cuts.
Tees- as normal are patchy and many are unlevel.
Sand- is firm packed and/or dirt.
Rough- was out of control and anything off the fairways resulted in searches for balls.
Greens- were extremely shaggy and slow slow slow.
To be fair, I believe that all the rains have produced more growth than normal and is the cause of the rough issues. The greens were recently worked and could be the reason they haven't been mown in awhile. Hopefully whatever the cause behind the decline will be fixed and this course will return to being a viable option.
Update
Still the same fun scenic course with conditioning issues. The narrow tree lined fairways, small greens, and the holes with the river always place a premium on accuracy over length on this relatively short course.
There were the extremes of soggy wet areas of fairway all the way to dry bare areas. The tee boxes had good coverage but there are a lot of uneven areas. The greens were rolling smooth with slow/medium speed and were the best conditioned part of the course.
The mosquitos in a few areas of the course were completely out of control. I had half a dozen bites and several dozen confirmed kills by the time I surrendered to the little beasts. I then drove back to the clubhouse after the seventh hole to purchase bug spray. The staff was prepared with not only spray for sale but also cans for free usage. GREAT customer service to provide them, the staff here is always one of the best. The asst pro told me that mosquito abatement was scheduled to come out so it shouldn't be an issue for long.
Great Location, fun short course
Nature at its finest, we saw a bobcat and a family of deer. Wonderful locale nestled at the base of the foothills with the river running in/alongside several holes. Length is on the short side but the narrow holes/trees/river add challenge.
Overall - 2, Usually on par with many offerings in the area. The average design and poor conditions the day we played is enough to drag the rating down, regardless of the setting. Average(3) when conditions are good.
Pace - 4, Sub 4hr round was extended (a lot) the last three holes by a group of beginners.
Course conditions - 2, The 1st and 17th greens were reseeded and very shaggy/bumpy, from what I assume to be some serious damage/fungus? Rest of course was typical winter conditions with areas that were poor even for winter.
Staff - 4, Friendly and helpful, with an amazing ability to recognize even occasional patrons.
Value - 2, Difficult (impossible?) to find deals, prices are higher than most other local courses.
Food - 3, Small bar/grill with typical offerings. Good inside seating with view of the river.
Facilities - 3, Older well maintained, love the stone work on parts of the buildings. Small grass range.
This is a course I recommend for the rotation for those in the area. Those traveling this is probably a one and done.
Great course
This course is set along the Kings River and winds through many trees. This course is very scenic and fun to play. Not extremely challenging, but there are some tricky holes.
fun
the fairways could be better, but nothing as bad as airways. the greens are great, the set-up is great, and the hot dogs in the pro shop are great. definitely going back!
