Best!!!
Love the golf course one of the best
Only If There Isn’t Something Better
Slow play. More like a pasture than a fairway. Greens are slow but pretty well maintained. Golf carts worked well. No marshals to monitor pace of play or number of players. We played behind a FIVESOME. It was agonizingly slow. No courses I regularly play allow that.
Fun Day Trip
I honestly wasn't expecting what I got - and that's OK! We drove 135 miles to get out of the coastal drizzle and see the sun. You have to WANT to play here -- because there's nothing but oil fields and agriculture for miles. Having said that, people DO come here -- and from I heard, really like the course! The place was "busy" - and I mean that as compliment, not as a complaint!
Conditions were sunny and 84 degrees with a constant 20+ knot wind. I found out from others that wind is the norm here, and the day we played was considered "cool".
The staff were REALLY welcoming and friendly! They were out of golf carts when we arrived, so our tee time was delayed, but not long. We grabbed a sandwich from the grill, and we were off. (The grill was very reasonable by the way)
The course was in pretty good conditions for this time of year! I was surprised by how green the fairways were, as well as how well the greens played - especially in the early afternoon on a busy day.
The "signature first hole" was an interesting climb, and the rest of the course was enjoyable. There were some nice views of the surrounding area from several of the tee boxes.
Overall, a "good time was had by all". I drove a couple of hours just to see the sun, and play a round golf -- at a course I knew nothing about. I feel I got my moneys worth and some change back!
Great value and pace of play were great
Greens in very good shape, fairways in decent shape and a lot of gopher holes in the fairways.played in 3 hours 25 min
Course in rough shape
This used to be a very good county course but is not very good at this time. The fairways were overgrown except in the areas which are hard pan. Hit numerous drives right down the middle and had a hard time finding the ball because the fairways haven't been mowed in awhile. The ones I could see where on basically bare dirt. Fairways deserve a grade of D. Greens which used to be very well maintained are now just ok. Bare spots and repaired areas are abundant luckily someone did a good job putting the flags away from the damaged areas. The carts are very old and beat up, mostly from other courses who sold them off. The snack bar had no cooked food for sale because of stove or grill being out if service. The only upside was pace of play was good because the course was amazingly empty for Easter vacation week. The other course this company runs is packed full probably because it is in much better shape. It is a shame that this once very well maintained facility has become so run down, I wouldn't be surprised at all if goes out of business soon, too bad.
Great pace of play
Greens were in good shape, firm and fast fairways a little rough, but greening up nicely
BV great !
Greens in good shape Fairways a little rough, but that’s par for the time of year pay supply was really good completed around and under four hours so definitely worth the drive compared to five hour rounds at Kern River and 4 1/2 hour rounds at North Kern
only downside is the drive
good value for the prices, even better with a deal. only downside is the drive out there
Pace of play
My only complaint was pace of play. There were 2 foursomes ahead of me and my partner and they refused to let us play through. By the end of the day it got real old. I almost wish people would have to sign off on knowing basic golf edict before playing. I understand the course can’t afford a Marshall right now but it’s pretty infuriating when players don’t know the basics. Staff are friendly and the course is just fine for being a public course.
Bumpy Ride
Course is a lot of fun in general. If you don’t stay on the fairway though it’s a very uneven ground and bumpy. Greens had some rough patches and it’s sometimes hard to find your ball because of all the debris on the ground, even on the fairway. Even that said I still recommend playing it, fun layout and challenging blind shots. Good for beginner and experienced golfer.
