Sapelo Hammock Golf Club

Live oak lined fairways make this a beautiful place.

This is a course that meanders through a neighborhood and among the coastal marshes. The cost is low, the value is high. The greens are relatively small but they seemed quite true. The staff was lovely. Only blemish is range balls that are older than dirt. I'd play it again in a heartbeat.

We played on a Saturday morning. Weather was superb.

Right from the time we arrived everyone was incredibly friendly and attentive.

We ended up playing with a couple of members who were incredibly hospitable and shared their knowledge, and beer.

Would recommend to anyone.

Challenging course, but manageable and fun.

It really feels like you’re out in the woods of Georgia. Beautiful.

From the time you walk in the staff are phenomenal. It’s a very welcoming and friendly environment. Everyone speaks to you. Everyone was helpful. Range balls are included with your round. The course is very well taken care of. It’s not overly packed with people just rushing you along. The 9th hole crosses the clubhouse so you can stop for a drink or snack. There are restrooms all along the course that are extremely clean and taken care of. Outside of the golf the food here is much better than I’ve had at other courses. They had an event the evening of play and still made food to order. I came here somewhat with the intent to get a membership after playing. I was sold on this before I even stepped back outside.

Overall I give Sapelo GC a 3 1/2 star rating well on its way to a 4. The course sits on the marsh where mossy oaks & beautiful Atlantic Ocean views are plentiful, scene alone would make it a 4. Staff super friendly and free range balls is always a plus. Layout is great, challenging on most holes. What brings the course to a 3 1/2 is all bunkers were literally under construction. Any course off the water should have immaculate bunkers, playable bunkers at best possible which was not the case here. And secondly the greens weren’t in the best of shape. Don’t get me wrong, not furry, no fungus spots, but more so the green spray coloring on a solid surface. Again, for a course with this location, the money has got to go in the right places. Overall, 3 1/2 stars on the way to 4. Definitely would play again for the price, $30 - $45 you won’t beat it!!!

I was surprised the cart paths are gravel not paved.

The very last hole is hard with the ditch across the fairway so close to the green.

I really enjoyed the round and am planning to return.

Excellent Course , my only very minor issue was with the Golf Cart, we requested 2 carts, and was told unable and there were many available. Other than that minor issue the course is a true pleasure to play.

What winter? The weather ideal mid 70s. Fast and firm fairways. Greens were true. Staff was edging the traps. Nice to see enhancement. Staff friendly. Don't blame the course if your game is bad.

Fairways need some work. Greens are fast and very good.

Nice course that is challenging and fun. The course is in nice shape, doesn’t have heavy traffic and when I was playing one of the greens-keepers actually thanked me for playing. What a breath of fresh air.

The day started off with a frost delay, but it was well worth the wait. Our foursome had an absolute blast. The course is in excellent shape as always. The greens are perfect. Staff greeted us with great delight and respect. You guys are awesome!

Halfway between Brunswick and Savannah lies a hidden coastal gem called Sapelo Hammock. Just 20 minutes off of I-95 and worth the drive It won't overpower you with it's length which means everything is in range and that makes it fun. Plenty of water and marsh that come into play. Enjoy marsh views and coastal wildlife while you meander through the Shellman Bluff neighborhood. The staff is friendly and are genuinely happy to have you there.

Great course and staff is very friendly and accommodating

Greens were in great conditions and true. Fairway grass was extremely short.

One of the players it was his time at Sapelo and he was taken back at the beauty of the course and the rate really surprised him. We had a great time! (also the golf wasn't bad either)

I enjoyed my first round of golf at this course. It would have been better if I could have been paired up with another senior golfer.

I stay on St. Simons every winter and manage to play this course a few times during my visit. It’s about a 45-60 minute drive and not that easy to find, but worth the trip.

The course is challenging enough for a mid handicapper, in nice shape, and rarely crowded. The price also is very reasonable. I’ll continue to visit!!
