Sapelo Hammock Manager review

The Manager of Sapelo Hammock called the Sheriff on us. For slow play and arguing with the manager. This is definitely a home town course. The sheriff got our information as if we were the ones doing something wrong. Sheriff got all of my family id cards to document us.

My family, friends have been coming to Sapelo Hammock for years. Now it has come to an end.

Great course

Course is always in good shape. Greens are some of the best around with none of the Poa Annua you see on a lot of courses. Grass on tee boxes is a bit sparse but not a big issue hitting off a tee. Overall a great course and worth the drive.

Only complaint was the fairways. Although green, it was like hitting your ball off of bear ground. Greens were in good condition.

A hidden gem

We were looking for a course about halfway between Hilton Head & Jacksonville. My search found this course. Not really knowing what to expect we were very pleased with the staff and course. First surprise was range balls included in the booking price which was so nice after a 1.5 hour drive to stretch out. Tee boxes throughout need some work but because we put a tee in the ground that was not a problem for us. Fairways were nice and the greens were gorgeous. If you get the chance to book this course you will be rewarded.

Burn Out

The layout has a lot of potential. But it needs water badly. Tees are dust bowls and some fairways are cow pastures. Staff and members are super friendly, but the track is simply not worth 88.00. I'm curious to see what the conditions will be like in June.
