Pine Creek Golf Club
About
Pine Creek Golf Course is part of the La Plata Communities in Colorado Springs. The course winds through the Pine Creek Valley, providing a lush and varied landscape. The course sprawls across high plains grasslands with abundant trees and lakes coming into play throughout. The seemingly gentle terrain has tricky undulations that total over 375 feet of elevation changes. The front is a canyon-style nine while the back is more of an American links design. There are creek beds coming into play on nearly every hole as well as strategically placed bunkers. In addition to the challenging round, the golf course offers stunning views of Pikes Peak, the Front Range, and the entire Colorado Springs skyline. At Pine Creek there is also a unique elevated, target-oriented grass driving range, a practice green, and a short game area.

A heavy frost covered the vegetation as the maintenance crews blew out the sprinkler system as we played. This is the tee box of # 11. Photo submitted by skibumcolorado on 11/21/2013
Traveling through Colorado Springs
My friend and I were traveling through Colorado and looking for a good course to play. We needed rental clubs. Pine Creek had them. Most other courses in Colorado Springs did not.
Just a 15-20 minute ride from downtown Colorado Springs, Pine Creek was a wonderful buy for the quality of golf we experienced. We paid $29 apiece on line for golf, including cart. It was $39 for walk ups.
Pine Creek offered challenging, but fair holes with four different tees to choose from.
If you are traveling through Colorado Springs and don't have your clubs, go to Pine Creek"
A good choice on a good day
This course makes you think about your shots yet is still enjoyable. Greens were in the best condition I've seen at this course and the course was set up nicely. Fairways were mowed, first cut was the right height and the rough was punishing, yet playable.
Full practice facility with chipping and bunker practice greens.
I didn't score as well as I usually play (my own damned fault), but I still enjoyed my round. It was a good day.
Pine Creek golf course
The course was in great shape very well maintained. The staff was very friendly and helpful in explaining the layout and what to expect on the course.
Nice veiws and true greens
The course was in great shape overall, The five hour round was because of the 2some we were pair with.Only complaint is they need to put more sand in the bunckers
Good course for a good price
First time at Pine Creek and I really enjoyed it. Very typical Colorado course with elevated fairways and hills all around, not to mention the great views.
Good course and the value was great!
golf
The course was in good condition but I was disappointed once again with the golf.now price. I paid $24 each to play at the course for two people and was charged a $4.98 booking fee by golf.now. I would have been better off not using golf.now as the 18 hole green fee was $25 so I overpaid using golf.now because of the booking fee. This is about the fourth time this has happened to me this year and I'm growing tired of it. I may not use golf.now for quite some time going forward.
Pine Creek...thank God the drought is over
After many years of drought that took a toll on courses and conditions all across the area, Pine Creek has rebounded and is in great shape. The pace of play was a bit slow but it gave us plenty of time to assess the next shot and minimize errors in course management. Greens were in great shape and although the bunkers still had rain damage from a recent downpour the day before, we had a great round. Fairways were lush, rough was penal, so it encouraged staying in the short grass. Well worth the 29 bucks to walk it!
Pine Creek hurry up and wait
I hadn't played this course since last year. When I arrived I was told I had to pay again even though I paid Golf Now, because I did not have receipt with me.
After teeing off 20 minutes late, we waited 5 to 10 minutes on every shot.
After hitting out of bounds from the tee, I correctly teed a second ball and hit what was my 3rd shot with the penalty. The ranger lady was watching me and yelled No Mulligans! I was hitting 3rd shot!
No wonder the course was so backed up, incompetent help from the top down. I guess all they really care about is the great $$$$
Slow pace
Classic target golf. The rough was brutal and made looking for balls problematic. Play with someone who knows the course, it will save you strokes, time, and golf balls. I would hesitate to come back just because the pace of play was so slow. Not a course for high handicappers!
Wonderful Sunday Round.
The views are magnificent. Pikes Peak and the front range. The course was in very good condition. The greens became a little hard in the pm. Nice and quiet setting. I will return several times. I really like the course. This was my 1st time here.
had a great time
Course is in great shape. Interesting layout with lots of target golf keeps you on your toes. Not a boring course. Great views.
Not a great course or value
This course was average at best. Condition was on the low side. Greens were shaggy and very slow. Winds through a housing development but there was ample room to hit shots even if they were not perfect. I would probably skip it if I were in the area to play again.
Odd holes but adventurous
The views of the mountains were gorgeous, very good fairway and greens. Greens were inconsistent, some fast, some super slow but good condition. Overall I loved the course but not having a driveable fairway on hole 1 and 18 irks me
worth playing
great course with beautiful views. always in good shape.
Attractive Course with Great Views
Pine Creek is a well-maintained residential course with great views of Pikes Peak, the Garden of the Gods and the Front Range. Much of the course is left "natural" to save on maintenance and water usage. Unfortunately this tends to slow down play as golfers look for their balls in knee high natural grass in creeks and alongside fairways in the rough. For example on the first hole, a short par 4, there are two creeks and average golfers who are not warmed up normally hit their balls in both creeks and spend quite a bit of time looking for their balls (usually in vain) which immediately backs up play. With the exception of the 18th hole, the course favors right handed players that draw the ball as most fairways drop away from left to right, the par 5 6th hole, the number one handicap hole being a prime example. The signature hole is probably the downhill 15th with great mountain views. The 11th green also has great views of Pikes Peak back down the center of the long fairway. The course is laid out on an east-west axis with the first 4 holes being downhill, 5 through 13 being uphill and 14 through 18 being downhill. Although the course can be walked, it's a long uphill slog from 5 through 13 and a cart is certainly appreciated, at least on these holes. Attractive homes line the course and fairways can be tight with greens slightly smaller than average. The greens normally putt at a medium speed. Pine Creek is a nice course to play, it's an attractive well-maintained course with great views, but because of all the natural areas slowing down play, be sure to allocate at least 5 hours when it's busy.
DOJO
Fairways need help. Generally good, but bare spots or winter kill on many of the holes.
Greens were excellent, but very slow. Stimp meter of 8 or less.
Sand traps were hard and needed to be fluffed! Not true sand shots around the greens.
Course marshals were always present, helpful and encouraging!
Greens are still alittle slow
Course is improving. Had weather during round, but were able to play threw it
Personal Best
Neat course, tests you right off the bat with the first tee box. Although, we were putting on the beach. That being said, it was a personal best round so I'll definitely be back.
Not much to recommend
This track is awkward at best. You find yourself hitting to a spot on nearly every hole, so that you are limited on what you can do off the tee. I don't like that -- I like choices -- risk/reward options, etc. There are WAY too many bunkers. The greens were in decent shape, but every green had more than one hole in it which I have never seen before. The course was in OK shape as this is still off-season for Colorado Springs. The staff is really friendly. No beer cart girl anywhere on the course. At $26 for 18 riding -- it was a great deal, but I doubt I'd play this course anytime soon.
