The Ocean Course is one of two championship courses at Kona Country Club. As its name implies, this course has an oceanfront location with views of the surrounding mountains that are home to its sister course, the Mountain Course. The Ocean Course provides an easier, but no less enjoyable round than its sibling. The layout features wide-open fairways and numerous strategically placed sand bunkers. The turquoise waters and black lava outcroppings provide natural hazards. The signature holes are the third and 12th, but one of the most memorable is the 13th hole where during November through March, you can catch a glimpse of a humpback whale. While both Kona C.C. golf courses provide a variety of challenges, the Ocean Course is a gentle, more player-friendly option that still features the same stunning views as the Mountain Course.

Amazing improvement!

I've been going to my timeshare at Kona Coast for over 15 years now and I never seen the course in as GOOD a shape as it is now. I actually stopped playing in for several years because it was mostly brown, dry and the greens were crap. Now - everything is green, the course is in great shape, and the greens are immaculate (which by the way also makes them quite challenging. ) Kudos to the staff at KCC for bringing this course back to life in a big way!! I am going back to playing every year again now.

Nice course in nice area especially if stay on course

Pretty wide open. Mildly dry. Greens are fast putts run away to the water. Tee up your putts going uphill.

We enjoyed the views of the ocean and the lava rock areas. Course was very playable for all levels of golfer. A little pricey but we were on vacation.

Pace of play was excellent. Greens were a little difficult to read but I’m sure if we played it several times we would figure them out. It was a great relaxing round that didn’t bear you up. We would play it again!

Afterwards the View for food and drinks was fantastic. Meghan our server could not have been nicer. Best coconut shrimp on Kona! Great selection of women’s clothing for resort wear.

NW Golfer

Course has a nice layout with beautiful ocean holes and elevation changes. Condition of greens and fairways are good. Pace of play was over 4.5 hours, But it was a Saturday morning. Carts have GPS, but mine didn’t work on the front 9, they fixed it at the turn & it quit working again around 12 or 13. Not a huge deal, but annoying enough to take away from full enjoyment of the round.

Played this course 3 times, with my nephew on our visit to Kona, Hawaii. A bit pricey but the course and scenery are excellent! Close to our Vrbo, which made the decision easier to play even though the price. Our last time playing was on a Sunday, which made the round a bit long. Play on a weekday and you won't be disappointed!
