Kona Country Club
About
The Ocean Course is one of two championship courses at Kona Country Club. As its name implies, this course has an oceanfront location with views of the surrounding mountains that are home to its sister course, the Mountain Course. The Ocean Course provides an easier, but no less enjoyable round than its sibling. The layout features wide-open fairways and numerous strategically placed sand bunkers. The turquoise waters and black lava outcroppings provide natural hazards. The signature holes are the third and 12th, but one of the most memorable is the 13th hole where during November through March, you can catch a glimpse of a humpback whale. While both Kona C.C. golf courses provide a variety of challenges, the Ocean Course is a gentle, more player-friendly option that still features the same stunning views as the Mountain Course.

Good course with ocean holes
Kona CC is a good course with ocean holes. It's straightforward with no tricky or funky holes. Fairways are wide but you can find trouble if you hit errant shots. The best part of all is that you are golfing in Hawaii, enjoy it!
Very good money to value
Layout and proximity to ocean and views were very good. Played by myself — two balls from tee to cup — in 3.5 hours in the mid morning on a perfect day. Overall, course conditions were very good EXCEPT the bunkers — beautiful white sand with plenty of sand, but it was apparent they hadn’t been dressed in at least a couple of days. No rakes, which I guess is understandable with covid, but they could at least drag them every morning.
Pace of play caused me to get called of course
Didn't realize they have to have carts back by 5:15. Cart Ranger came to me before I got to play 17 and 18 and told me I had to get cart back immediately. It was around 5:35. Didn't like his tone. I got behind 2 4somes and never got through. I was enjoying the course and the round until I had to encounter this person.
Bunkers and Fairways need work.
The terrain for this course on the Big Island of Hawaii is excellent and years ago the course condition was pretty good. Now the sand bunkers are in terrible shape (no sand, many weeds) and the fairways are so full of weeds that you often have a difficult lie. The condition of the greens is better, but not very good.
Beautiful holes but needs work
The course has some pretty holes and the pace was very good however no starter meant no playing partners. Not sure what happened but being paired as a threesome and playing solo with no starter present sucks. The playing conditions specifically greens was inconsistent
