Kona Country Club

We enjoyed the course with holes near the ocean, wide fairways, nice sand in the bunkers, and decent greens. Some uphill holes, but overall a good challenge.

Although the greens had been punched recently, the course was is pretty poor shape overall. Pace of play was terrible, on 3rd tee box 3 groups we’re waiting, never saw a marshal.

Enjoyed the course very much. It was a busy day so the pace was slow but I had no place better to be.

Played Kona Country Club last week the last day before the greens were “punched” at the recommendation of the club house staff’s advance notice…… thanks so much guys!! A truly lovely experience. Older course design without blind shots and tricked up holes, so if you play well, the score will reflect that. Challenging and fair. The entire course’s turf is bermuda and very well cared for. No bare spots or distressed turf. Greens are large and very smooth and receptive. Pro shop well equipped to meet your needs and the staff I dealt with was friendly and helpful. Did not visit the food or beverage area, but could see a well equipped bar from the course. I played early one morning as a single and the pace of play was excellent. The coastal views were excellent and very close up on a number of the holes. The short game practice area was excellent. The driving range turf was the ONLY negative I would note, but perhaps this is a transient issue. I have no idea, but even if it were a constant that needs addressing, the remainder of the experience is first rate. If you are on the big island, you should be looking to play this course. The value was excellent. Enjoy!!
