Richter Park Golf Course
About
Situated at the heart of Fairfield County, Richter Park Golf Course is situated along the West Lake Reservoir. The course has been ranked among not only the top ten golf courses in Connecticut but also as one of the top 25 public courses in the country. The course sprawls across more than 180 acres of gently rolling hills. Water has a prominent presence throughout, with the Reservoir bordering seven holes on the front nine and water hazards coming into play on a total of 14 holes. In addition to the water, there are a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic, which can make it a tough golf course to play your first time. Be prepared for a few blind shots. Richter Park's signature hole, the par-5 12th, is bordered by Boggs Pond. Your third shot will be over water to a bunkered green.

Good Round of Golf for a great price
My son and I played Richter on 4th of July. The pace of play was great we did not have to wait at all. The course conditions were ok- some areas had patchy grass with bare lies just off the fareway. One issue was that their snack bar closed early and when playing with a constantly hungry teenager that is never good!
Great Golf
Even if you are playing poorly, the course layout is great. Every hole provides a different challenge and some of the tee shots are very rewarding if you hit them properly. Greens are also in great shape and rolling fast
Great course to play. It has changeling holes. And the course is in great shape , would definitely come back to play
Public gem
Love this public course. Great conditions. Perfect challenge. Walkable!!
Great public course
Very challenging experience. 13 of the 18 holes have some type of water involved. Need to keep on your toes.
One of my faviorate courses.
3 hour round
Course listed on GolfNow for $33. with cart. In the area for Work. Walked into the proshop. Nice girl working said she'd let us play for $31. with cart. They had a Shotgun on the course, so we were allowed to start on 10. Another twosome was waiting, we asked the starter if we could go out alone, he allowed it. Every teebox, fairway, and green were in excellent condition. Greens were fast. Bunkers (plenty of them) in excellent shape. We took our time, and still finished 18 holes in 3 hours 10 minutes. Afterward, the beer was ice cold. Thanks for a great round of golf.
Hot hot weather!!
It was hot day while we were playing golf. Ther were lots of shadow spot under tree to cool down. This course has very nice condition of green, very fast and well cut. If someone want to play fast green, I strongly recomand this course. This course has wonderful shape to play and to see view of nature.
Go and grab your club to play here.
Overrated
This course used to be better but it can no longer justify its current high ratings. Sure there are some nice views with the water but it's not that great of a layout. All the doglegs go left to right. Conditions have declined over the years and several greens still show signs of damage from trouble a couple of years ago. Greens were long and slow. Course does not drain well and there was a lot of standing water to slosh through. As a non resident I can think of many other places I would rather play in season price for that price. Very limited practice areas still.
One of the best Public Courses
Richter Park is always one of the best public courses in the NY, CT area. Fantastic layout, water, elevation changes, you name it. Course is always in great shape but can get backed up at times. Look for deals as there are usually cheaper rates at certain times. If you're a Danbury resident its dirt cheap.
Richter Park
Course was in decent shape seemed to be one of the first rounds of the new season and we had taken a lot of rain the week prior so all in all I was quite pleased with the shape of the course and the staff was excellent
Always a great place to play
Always a great experience. Staff is terrific and the restaurant is also excellent.
great day
course was in good shape, pace of play was good and they have rangers on the course working to keep things moving.
One of our favorites!
Always love going and playing and the restaurant is excellent too!
Gorgeous Day at Richter!
Played yesterday with my buddy. The groups in front of us were slow and we ended up finishing in about 5 hours. We played last year and we had the ranger coming around every now and then. We finished in 4h20m last year. Back to yesterday: The course conditions were good. Some greens were a little beat up, but they were rolling true. The course could use some upkeep and someone to come around and blow some leaves like at other courses (Centennial). Other than that, I will definitely make the journey at least once a year in the fall for the foliage alone.
Richter Park
Great layout, challenging course, greens so-so, need aereation. Trouble was no rangers, so it was slow because a twosome in front of our foursome had the lady play 2 balls and she was not that fast.
Please enforce prompt play !
Maybe the best deal around
Our foursome agrees that Richter Park was possibly the bargain on the summer. Even at the regular rate, the course is a good value. Conditions were very good. Elevation changes and water water everywhere offered sufficient challenges without being gimicky. The pace of play was very good -- I was thinking I'd play 9 and managed to squeeze in 14 (had to run to a meeting). Confession snacks was very reasonably priced which is always a bonus. My only regret is I live three hours away or else I'd play all the time!
Seaview Stay & Play Golf Package
100 percent right you are, Been playing Richter since 89, going down hill, one good thing, no one there anymore, very easy to get out. Played twice this yr alone.
