About
Situated at the heart of Fairfield County, Richter Park Golf Course is situated along the West Lake Reservoir. The course has been ranked among not only the top ten golf courses in Connecticut but also as one of the top 25 public courses in the country. The course sprawls across more than 180 acres of gently rolling hills. Water has a prominent presence throughout, with the Reservoir bordering seven holes on the front nine and water hazards coming into play on a total of 14 holes. In addition to the water, there are a variety of elevation changes ranging from subtle to dramatic, which can make it a tough golf course to play your first time. Be prepared for a few blind shots. Richter Park's signature hole, the par-5 12th, is bordered by Boggs Pond. Your third shot will be over water to a bunkered green.

Following the Outing
Even though we followed an outing, pace of play wasn't that bad, 4 1/2 hrs. Fairways were good, the greens are little banged up. For the lack of rain this year, overall conditions were very good.
Slick, large greens
Slick, large greens present an additional challenge to a course that requires all the clubs in your bag.
Hidden gem.
Course was in great shape and the staff was very friendly. Decently challenging course with lots of blind tee shots and position holes. Only complaint is that if the course is even slightly busy, they try to pair everyone up as foursomes.
Richter at a Great Price
Very happy I looked at golfnow to find a reasonable tee time at a great price for Richter. The 2 other players we got paired up with paid twice what I did. Hope to find again!!
Well done richter park
We played mid morning on a sunday and there was at least 4 rangers helping on the blind holes to let you know when it was fine to hit. Love the layout and greens are solid and just a fun place to play. Drove up from westchester to play and one of my favorite places to play public golf.

Great Course
Played Richter on July 3 for the first time in 3 years. It was always one of my favorite courses and did not disappoint! Course is in excellent condition, greens are fast and true, fairways are lush. Definitely worth a visit!

Course is in great shape and is a fantastic layout! Although for the average 20 something handicap it can be a challenge, therefore the pace of play suffers because of it.
Fantastic! But...
Course conditions outstanding. Starters and Rangers are awesome, players are monitored and "encouraged" to speed things up when necessary. Challenging and technical. If you do not know the course, I highly recommend finding someone to play with who does. Lots of blind hits off the tees.
My review would have been 5 Stars across the board, but for the second time this season, my foursome had to wait many times during the round for maintenance crews to finish working around the greens. I expect workers to get the heck off the green and resume their work when the players have putted out. They really need to be taught the concept that the golfers are paying their paychecks.
Also, the course needs to post when green aeration is taking place. This is just common courtesy.

Love Richter Park Golf
Played here twice in August. Used to play here years and years ago. I decided to come back and am glad I did. Now I remember
why we liked this course so much. People are so nice and it is a fun course and great atmosphere. I think conditions are not quite what they were back in the 80's and 90's when Golf Digest had them rated so high. But if conditions were a 10 back then, they are still an 8 now.
No driving range to warm up on which is tough.
