Hole #18 Photo submitted by Tim9157706 on 02/16/2013
Beautiful landscaping; enjoyable course for golfers of intermediate and above skill-levels.
I played this course with my brother-in-law over Labor Day weekend in 2013. The course was in nice shape despite having bent grass greens and fairways, which I imagine are difficult to maintain. I am a 12 handicap, and my brother-in-law is around a 24. We both thoroughly enjoyed the round.
The real star of the course is the gorgeous landscaping: breathtaking flowers of all colors and types and serene natural preserve areas. I am no botany connoisseur, but I was really impressed by Baywood Greens' presentation.
The course played approximately 6,600 yards from the middle-back tees. It was challenging enough to be interesting, but not so difficult as to be oppressive. The back nine was more interesting than the front, with water coming into play on most of the holes. I hit almost every club in my bag, with the exception of my three wood (I was either too far out or well within "hybrid-range" on the par 5's, and I was too foolish to pull 3-wood on some of the tighter par 4's).
Overall, my favorite holes were the 18th, where a dramatic tee shot with water down the right side takes you home after a fun round, as well as two of the par 3's: the 6th and 11th.
I did not particularly enjoy the 14th hole, where I found the island fairway to be a forced attempt at novelty. That said, a tee shot in the water on the 14th is not too much of a penalty, since the drop zone is generously positioned at 120 yards from the green. The remarkable landscaping lining the bridge to the island also mitigates the design's shortcoming.
Lastly, I should note that the course is situated on a resort and offers upscale practice facilities and what I recollect to be an above-average pro-shop.
Kudos to GolfNow for scoring a great twilight rate of $30, which was $15 or 33% off the regular rate of $45. This course costs $129 before 4:00 p.m. so $30 was a tremendous value. While we had to finish the 18th in the dark, we were able to play all 18 in just under 4 hours, starting at 4:20 p.m.
Course very scenic and fun to play!
This course was beautifully maintained and very scenic! This course is a must play if you are in the area. Played the middle tees and the course was plenty challenging!
Never disappoints
Baywood Greens is never disappointing. Conditions were great, the staff was friendly and professional, and the course challenging.
Beautiful course with thousands of interesting and spectacular flowers
Beautiful course with thousands of interesting and spectacular flowers
Pace of play not monitored
Played on a Sunday, Never saw a marshal during 5 hrs. waiting on every shot. Avg. 15-20 min per hole. Wanted to leave but paid $75 per round for myself and another player. As a twosome, you'd like to be able to play through a foursome, especially when they are giving each other instruction on the course. When slow groups don't understand that, marshals need to be on hand to move these groups up or have them step aside.
A real gem!
I have played a lot of nice resort courses in my life. This is by far the most beautiful course I have ever played...a real gem! Great layout, great service, and outstanding course conditions.
Amazing course
5 star service and quality cannot wait to get back on the course again.
Would recommend this course to anyone.
A friend that has played golf in the lower delaware/maryland coast has been recommending this course. Everything he said did not even meet what we have witnessed.... It was way better than he said. ABSOLUTE MUST PLAY!
country club conditions and experience
Booked on GolfNow at a great rate - able to get out 30 minutes ahead of tee time per gracious starter. Not held up on any shot during entire round, never saw anyone ahead of us and finished at least a full hole ahead of groups behind us. Course conditions excellent, layout from white (middle) tees just challenging enough. Spectacular scenery, flowered bridges are unlike any other course. Really can't wait to play again.
Great course, fantastic layout and lots of fun
We had an awesome time at this course. Set up is fantastic and the course is maintained perfectly. If you have a chance, go there!
Course was in great shape except for a handful of tee boxes that were quite bad
Beautiful course that offers challenges for even the best golfers
Outstanding
The course was filled with beauty from the moment you pulled in. I have never played at such a wonderful course, even if you play a bad round here you will be happy you got to play. Staff was unbelievable friendly. Course was beyond gorgeous. Would love to play again.
Beautiful layout
A beautiful well manicured course. You get to play every club in your bag. Play was a little slow but we were only a twosome, so.... I would recommend this all my friends.
Great condition and scenery
The course was in great condition.
Flowes an scenery beautifal. Staff very cordial
Nice layout. Fairways need attention
Challenging layout. Played course 2 years ago and the course was in mint condition. This year not so much. Greens were very inconsistent on each hole. Fairways and tee boxes had tons of unrepaired divot holes. Even with the golf now rate it wasn't a geat deal.
Challenging but fair. Played from whites, the overall landscape of the course is magnificent. Fairways, Greens, and rough all in great condition.
The most beautiful golf course I've played in the east. In this case the picturesque setting did not distract. It felt very natural and made some of those bad shots not so bad. Each in our group had an 8 or other triples. But the course was so enjoyable that we felt like being a couple of shots over our normal scores was a great day.
It was a fun challenge, and the friendly staff made it easy to enjoy the day. Lunch on the patio was also very good.
One of the most beautiful public golf courses you will ever play...Thank you
Thank you to the wonderful staff at this great course...Keep up the great work!
Easily the prettiest course I have ever played
They are a little behind on divot and ball mark repair on the front nine. The back nine was much better. This is my favorite course during our annual beach vacation.
Scenic course that is challenging but playable
I played Baywood Greens many years ago and had great memories of how scenic the course is with all the flowers and bushes. I played it again last week and was not disappointed. It's a pretty amazing place. The practice area is great - compact and well organized. The course itself is challenging but playable even for the 25+ handicap players in my party. The recent weather had made some tee-boxes and fairways a little brown but overall the conditions were excellent. The rough was thick enough to stop a ball from going in the water but not so penal as to not allow you to advance it. My only real complaint was the noise level on several of the holes. There were many workers mowing, trimming, cutting, etc. with power equipment and a few holes run by the main road which is pretty loud. Other than that, it's a great course and the GolfNow deal we got was awesome.
Course condition and setting were outstanding
Baywood Green is maintained beautifully. The condition of the playing areas; greens, fariways, etc., was outstanding, especially considering the very challenging weather in the area. The staff was helpful and friendly, which made the whole experience very enjoyable. The only minor flaw was the VERY slow pace of play; perhaps due to "cart path only" on the day we played. Perhaps the new "duneside" course will filter off some of the course volume and enable a faster pace.
The course is difficult with a unique layout and very attractive setting. Definitely a trip worth taking at least once a year.
