Great AP track
Corse I great conditions greens s little rough shape but mostly putt true. Clubhouse and starter no clue
Well designed course...
Great course and great staff. Really enjoy playing STO. Will be back soon.
Fairways and tee boxes great
Greens burned out a bit. But still putted ok. Not good to look at
Great course in terrific shape
I had always heard good things about the Spencer T. Olin golf course. Having played it, I can see why. The entire course is in great condition - fairways, tee boxes and greens were all well maintained.
Fellow golfers were very nice, as was the staff. I would highly recommend this course, especially for the special rates which are often offered. It's a great value for what you get.
Terrible customer service
We had a tee time there in July 2nd. We got there and it was drizzling when we got there. There was a strong chance of afternoon storms, so we asked about the rain check policy. The pro informed us the policy says if you start in the rain you assume the risk of being rained out. I told him it was barely raining, but who knows 2 hours from now. He said there wasn't anything he could do about it and if we started we would not be given any rain check. We called a course close to there and was told the rain check policy was the same as most courses, and if we weren't half way done we would get a rain check for for 9 or 18 holes depending on where we were when the rain hit. So we went to the other course and spent almost $200 and got all 18 in. The pro at Soencer T Olin turned away $200 worth of business because it was drizzling out. I've never heard of a course with a policy like that.
great game of golf and friendly staff
I thought the greens and the course was extremely well taken care & helpful staff and enjoyed my round of golf very much thank you.
Great Place / Slow Play
I have always like Spencer T. Great layout and usually in good shape. It was slow on the holiday. Full tee sheet, so there was no where to go.
Tough for beginner/intermediate
Nice course, good condition while many St Louis area courses are dry to dead in fairways. Tough for a 100+ golfer...but there are many reasons I shoot 100+. Many blind approach shots and tee shots. I'd like to play here again
Poor management
The course had a high school tournament they shouldn't had any tee times on this particular day. I used my rewards on this course and only got to play 9 holes.
Loved it!
Really nice course. I hear it's not as nice as it used to be so it must have used to be amazing. Great tee boxes and fairways. Most of the greens were great with the exception of a few. Great layout that isn't easy. The greens were very challenging. Staff was friendly. They have great practice facilities. Wasn't busy so can't speak for pace of play. Also didn't eat. I'll definitely be back. Especially for the golfnow price!
Always an Honor
I always love when I get a chance to play this Arnold Palmer design course. For this time of year, the course was in phenomenal shape....HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!!
Not to friendly!!
The second I walked into the pro shop the girl behind the counter did not want any customer to ask an question or bother her in any way. When asked about a shotgun tournament about to start, I was immediately told that she was a professional and that all was handled by her. I wanted to know if the tee times were on time so that I could hit a few balls and putts. That just angered her even more and said that I should understand she was again a professional, That professionalism manifested itself by the tee at number 4. With 8 people waiting on the tee the ranger brought out a single in a cart and told us that he was sorry but the same girl told him to add the single between the end of the tournament and our 4 some on the 4 tee. Really? While waiting for the single who was about a 36 handicap he decided to teach has girl friend cart mate how to play golf . 20 minutes later and now 12 people on the 4th tee we played. WE called the ranger over and said this can't be happening, he made an executive decision and removed the single and his cart mate from the golf course. He was the only person that knew what he was doing.
Terrible!
worst service I have ever experienced! Rude! Unprofessional! I was shocked to ever see this kind of service. I would NEVER recommend this course to anyone.
Lots of ball marks
So I dont know if the golfers donts repair their ball marks or if the grass on the greens just isn't growing very fast, but there were alot of ball marks to contend with. Overall the course is in very good condition and seems to have survived the recent heat wave very well. Play on!
Sprencer T
it had rained the night before so really unfair to say course is in bad shape... but it was pretty darn wet. fortunately we had 90 degree rule. very fair course and pretty friendly for woman as my wife played. our green fees were very reasonable and included lunch. lunch was not the greatest for for the price it was excellent. i always enjoy a visit to spencer T
Course was in great shape.
This course is a moderately challenging one that has a lot of doglegs and wide fairways. It is helpful to play with someone who has played it before so you can be aware of the hazards and know the best place to hit to for a good approach to the green. The greens are a little rough, but not bad for a public course.
Great Muni
Nice course! There's a couple AP designed courses in the area, this and the Den at Fox Creek. Pretty wide fairways on both. This really isn't tricked up at all, fair for sure. Hit a good shot and you get rewarded. Some par 4s you'll be using other than a driver. Love the zoysia fairways. Last 2 years this course has been in incredible shape.
Always Solid
I've played Spencer a lot over the years. I can't recall a single time when I was upset about the course. Its never in bad shape.
Today was no different. The fairways were full and cut. The rough was a little thinner than usual, but it was fine.
The greens on the other hand looked atrocious. It was very odd. They were green and soft, but they had horrible spike marks, ball marks, and small patches of dead grass everywhere. It was the worst I had ever seen them.
However, they rolled as true as could be. They were fast, like always, and held pretty well. It was very strange watching a ball roll over spike marks and never lose its rotation.
The course was awesome and I was extremely happy. The only complaint I have is that my bratwurst at the turn seemed to have been on the grill a few weeks too long lol. It was a great day. Well done Spence
Poor Customer relations by Mgnt
This by far my favorite golf course in the area. Gets lots of play so sometimes greens suffer but a great layout.
New management is a bit over the top in trying to maximize profits. Absolutely refused to allow me to cancel my reservation even though a tournament rained out the previous day and rescheduled to impact my start time had slowed the pace of play down to a crawling 2 hours 45 min. on the first 9.
I gave only a fair rating due to attitude of manager on duty that day.
Only time in years of GolfNow reservations I have ever been denied a cancelation
Great Design
Course design rewards good shots and greens were challenging although somewhat beat up. Very good conditions overall.
I would like to apologize and offer your foursome another opportunity to come try our course. Please contact Craig at 618-465-3111 to take advantage of this offer.
