Large and challenging greens
Finally got the chance to play Spencer T. It is an exacting course with large but challenging greens and a 135 slope rating. Overall, the course was in solid shape and was fun to play an Arnold Palmer layout.
There were a lot of repaired ball marks but many were not fixed “properly” so the greens were a bit uneven with many tiny dead spots. The fairways were in excellent shape and great to hit off. A lot of strong holes but none that are truly memorable.
A bummer was that the pace of play was pretty slow. In addition, a group of five formed and were painfully slow. That backed up a bunch of groups and caused a five-hour round.

Very nice course. Great condition. Forgiving fairways and greens. Play was a little slow but it was a beautiful day so it was okay.
Glad Spencer T. Olin is Open Again
Spencer T. Olin just opened up again in mid-August, after a large sinkhole developed on a soccer field, just west of the 10th hole. It has been closed since late June (nearly 2 1/2 months), as they investigated the area to ensure it was safe to play.
Spencer T. Olin is one of my favorite courses to play in the St. Louis metro area. The weekday senior rate of $38 is the best you can get on this upscale golf course.
Overall, the condition of the course was very good. Only exceptions were the greens were on the slow side. The 4th and 13th greens had some bad areas. The pace of play was slow - a 5-hour round. The rough was really high, which slowed play because it was difficult to find your ball.
The course has decided to change the nines to their original layout. So, the first hole is the par 5, on the north side of the parking lot
this is an excellant course
Spencer T. has always been one of my top 3 courses to play in the Metro area for the money. They keep the course in excellent shape. The greens are always great and the course is beautiful. I hope they don't jack up their prices like all the other courses I used to play but will not anymore because they are too pricey. Example, I use top play Far Oaks last year in the afternoons for $36. Now they want like $70. Gateway has just lost their minds for what they are asking to play and they don't even begin to compare to Spencer T. I've always loved this course and will continue to drive the distance to play. Keep up the great work!!
Slow
The course is nice. The pace of play was closer to stop than it was to slow. At each tee box there was one or two groups waiting to tee off. We finally quit after 14 holes and 4 1/2 hours.
Only 1 problem
“Golfers” not repairing divots. Those who don’t, especially on a course that’s well taken care of, should be blacklisted.
Everything was good.
Very well maintained. Greens are very fast and fun.
Played at 330pm on weekend. Took too long to play and finish the round. It was too backed up on a Saturday afternoon
Really nice track
I thought the course was in great shape and played challenging. Really true rolling greens also! Can’t wait to play again there. It may be our new home course!!

Great course it's in great condition.
Pace of play horrible it 5 hours to play 18 holes we teed off at 1142am didn't get done until 445pm
Love this course
Such a challenging course. Course was in good shape. The greens were super fast and had some bumps on them.
But overall this is a great course and for the cost. You can’t beat it.
