About
Garrisons Lake Golf Club, nine miles north of Dover, is a historic play centrally located to all parts of Delaware. The course is nature friendly: with tree-lined fairways and large, well bunkered greens throughout. The par-72, 7,060-yard course was recently renovated and improved, and players of all abilities will be confronted with a fair challenge. Not that there aren’t hurdles. Garrisons Lake is book-ended by two long plays: The 535-yard, par-5 first features out of bounds along the left side, and the 536-yard 17th features a challenging tee shot with trees on the right side. Garrisons Lake Golf Club also has a bustling practice range, putting green, golf shop and snack bar.

Course still had winter conditions
This was my first time playing the course. Overall, I liked the course layout. Seemed open and not many hazards to worry about. Fairways had just been plug aerated and grass on some fairways were still dormant. Greens probably would have been okay, however they had just been top dressed with sand ( a lot ) and really couldn't get an accurate read. Still had debris from trees allover. it looked as though grounds keepers were working hard to get season ready. Also, the course is about to take on construction for a new clubhouse to improve much needed amenities. I will play Garrison's Lake again.
Rough greens
recent aeration left greens a mess. heavy sanding w/ no water-in process.
Good course for the value
I’ve played this course for years and I’ve always like the layout. Currently there is on fairway that’s under repair and the grass is thin in a few areas. It should be right in a few weeks.
Friendly staff and good conditions
I came to play this course on March 20th, 2023. My early morning tee time was delayed due to frost delay. The staff was very friendly and told me I would be first one to go after the frost delay was lifted. I played alone and zipped through the course in two hours. The courses has some challenging holes and have lots of trees. It is relatively flat. The course playing conditions were fair. I enjoyed my time there. I would play it again if I get an opportunity.
Convenient & Good
Good pace even when busy. Good layout friendly staff + Easy to get to
Wait too long between play
We have a foursome in front of us that took too long to play. One of the player, could hardly walk. They also hit multiple balls from the tee. We ended up bypassing them and we were able to finish without any hold off.
Gonna get great!!
Good news!! The first 2 holes are open!!! Bad news. The par 5 12th is now a temporary par 3 playing about 120 yards.
Garrison s is gonna have a great year. With all the bunker work and thinning of the trees, it’s got a great base to become fabulous .
Five Stars
It’s amazing the work that’s being done on this course. It’s more playable as well as visually top notch. Highest praise to the folks running this operation. Played this January 5th on a sunny 60 degree day that was very nearly perfect. Can’t wait for Spring (or more 60 degree winter days).
Fall classic
too many leaves/debris on greens for ease of putting on line. Still no sand in traps just concrete/stone mix. Other than that is ok
Good Seniors Course
As a senior player now, this is one of the nicest to play. A few long holes. But if your an intermediate type player you should score in the 80’s.
