Garrisons Lake Golf Club
About
Garrisons Lake Golf Club, nine miles north of Dover, is a historic play centrally located to all parts of Delaware. The course is nature friendly: with tree-lined fairways and large, well bunkered greens throughout. The par-72, 7,060-yard course was recently renovated and improved, and players of all abilities will be confronted with a fair challenge. Not that there aren’t hurdles. Garrisons Lake is book-ended by two long plays: The 535-yard, par-5 first features out of bounds along the left side, and the 536-yard 17th features a challenging tee shot with trees on the right side. Garrisons Lake Golf Club also has a bustling practice range, putting green, golf shop and snack bar.

My day on the course
Nice little golf course Teebox is a little nicked up but I didn’t find many tees laying around which is good fairways in decent shape the greens were in good shape as well but very slow probably rolling like a 10 maybe nine that was the only disappointing part you hit a putt And the ball comes of short other than that the course was decent would play again
Course is growing in nicely
Course staff has made huge improvements on course conditions this year. Pace of play during busy periods is really my only criticism as of late.
I also hear there are more course improvements on the way.
Great course for the money.
Nice round
Really nice round. Playing with my wife and another couple who was really patient as my wife is a new golfer and made it very comfortable for her to play. Enjoyed
Diamond in the rough
Fantastic course. Great layout. Grass was perfectly cut. A few tee boxes could use a little more love and a little less sand on the greens, but all around very pleased.
Better
Conditions are much improved from last year. Would be more worth the cost with a bar or grill
Love this course
Challenging, handsome, and quiet course. Great course for the money. Welcome to Smyrna and Enjoy.
Nice local course not far from US 1
Booked this course to play on the way home from Rehoboth Beach, DE. Very friendly pro shop staff got me out early on a not so busy day. This course has some serious sand bunkers that protect the greens and I hit many sand shots on this day. Some long par 3 as well that make you hit your longest iron. I enjoyed the course layout with many trees just off the fairway to try and avoid. This course can play very long or short, based on the 6 or so sets of tee boxes on every hole. I seems like a fair course to bring your junior player or beginner as well.
So-So Course
Course is in moderate shape. Needs some up keep. Grass was long, fairways full of leaves and cart paths terrible condition. Pace of play was also terribly slow. A two-person group took 4.5 hours to finish as we were waiting consistently. Hope renovations put this place back to where it once was!
Improvements
Course focused on recovering the greens from last season and accomplished that. Besides aeration, greens were in pretty good shape. Only bad thing is they focused only on the greens and seemed to forget about the rest of the course. Tee boxes, fairways and around the greens were clumpy and rough. Might take another year before those to improve but the staff is trying their best. Brand new range balls and and new range mats were great so if nothing else, head there for some practice.
I would play there again.
This is the 2nd time I have booked 18 holes and when I got there only the back 9 was open. I figured I'd play the back nine twice, but there was too much of a backup to replay the back nine. I guess I'll call the next time to see if all 18 are open. I wish it was on Golf Now's description, I would have booked somewhere else.
