Very nice course, especially for the price. A few quirky holes but well maintained course, fun and fair.
Poor conditions
Staff is always nice and accommodating, especially to single golfers. Course was in poor shape. Many tee boxes sparse, covered with weeds or sand. Fairways mostly hard pan, lots of runout. Front nine greens shaggy, back nine greens better. All greens very firm. Bunkers were mostly decent. Pace of play always backs up on back nine. I played on 3/24, and I saw a maintenance crew aerating the practice green when I left. That may be a sign of an impending aeration of the course (which is sorely needed), so buyer beware. Might want to call ahead, as GN is not the best at publishing aeration alerts (might be the course's lack of communication). Today's condition was worth it only in the sense that I didn't pay much for the round. It's a fun course, with many challenging holes, but needs some TLC.
Steve’s review
This course is fun and challenging. Some narrow fairways but excellent course condition. The greens are fast and in good condition. We worth the cost.
It was fun
We tried the course to see if it would could be part on the normal rotation of courses my group plays. It was in decent shape and fun. We'll be back
Fairways are what you would expect this time of year. Greens are hard and don't hold a shot. Staff is very friendly.
You get what you pay for
For $35 it’s hard to complain for a morning tee time, however it feels like there’s not much effort into making the course anything more than mediocre. Half the tee boxes weren’t even seeded and were in terrible shape. Greens were slow and furry. Course probably hasn’t been aerated in years. Weeds everywhere around the fringe and fairways. Not mention anything off the fairway becomes a rock quarry that could have been avoided by applying mulch biannually. One of the staff managers was very rude when asking if they had any breakfast sandwiches available. (There were three on the menu). If it’s up to me I won’t be playing here again.
Only play for convenience
Over played, thin tight lies, no Marshall enforcing course rules or pace of play. I’ve always played here because it’s close to the house. But last 3 rounds have been a slow pace of play. It’s been overplayed and needs rest.
No control of the course
We got to the first tee at 3:40 for our 3:45 tee time. We were 2 groups back to tee off at that time. The first two some each hit a couple balls off the tee, then the next two some went to the tee box. They proceeded to hit 3 balls each. We had our turn to tee off at 3:55. We finished hole 1 and then had to wait 10 minutes to tee off on #2. This occurred on every hole we played.... then after we finished hole 7, we drove to hole 8 and see a solo player has jumped in front of us and is waiting to tee off. So apparently they are letting people just come and play wherever on the course.. we paid to play 18, but play was so slow that we quit after 9.... I will never return to Woodland Hills. My group generally plays there 4-5 times a year and we used to enjoy it.
The course is a good value for the money, however be prepared for slow pace of play. I have played here multiple times and it is consistently slow.
Disappointing
Have played this course many times but the last few times the course has been going down hill. ( Poor course maintenance, restroom locked and unavailable on the course, coursed over booked & slow play 5hr round.)
