Poor Course Conditions and Disappointing Service
This was probably the worst golf course I have ever played. The overall condition of the course was terrible and clearly neglected. The fairways were full of large bare spots, dirt, and rocks, and there were many areas with overgrown grass and vegetation that looked like they had not been maintained in a long time.
One of the most frustrating parts was the lack of basic amenities. There were no water coolers anywhere on the course, which is unacceptable, especially during warm weather. When we asked for range balls, the staff member told us they did not have any bagged up and suggested we go out and pick up balls ourselves from the range. That level of service was extremely disappointing.
Between the poor course conditions and the unprofessional customer service, this was not an enjoyable experience at all. I would not recommend this course to anyone.
Great layout but fairways not the best. Greens good but slow
Not great but still fun to play
Nice layout and views. Very tight fairways, only need a driver on about 4 holes even from the black tees. Greens were really slow and fairways were really bare
Worth the trip
First time playing here. Most of the greens were descent. Better than reviews I read. Hilly course. Rough holding fairways iff you are close to edge. Good experience. Golf now hot deal made it worth the money.
Were to start? Yikes!
We had a hot deal and it was last minute so I can't complain a whole lot about the value for the money. The greens weren't horrible as they had been areated within the last 2 months. However they were nowhere close to decent either. Slooooooow doesn't even begin to describe them. (But they were green) 🤷♂️The tee boxes were basically dirt. At best this was a place to hit golf balls. The fairways were not much better than mowing a field to your mowers lowest setting and calling it a day. Seems like the owners care about the resort but put very little money or interest into the golf course. If I play here again it will be because all other courses in the area have burnt. Definitely not recommended.
Fun course.
It’s unique. I like that you play through the mountains. Fairways had some rough patches. Greens were nice and maintained.
Very nice mountain course
I really enjoyed playing this course right outside of downtown Helen, Ga. The course had just been hit with some major rain the night before and into the start of our round. Drainage was good on the course but the bunkers had some ponding. The tee boxes could use a little work, the access was tricky on a few of them and the turf was almost nonexistent. The greens were in beautiful condition being a couple weeks post aerating. No visible dimples and the coloration was deep green. Absolutely lovely. There are some majestic views as well. Definitely worth a visit.
fantastic day
I played Valhalla course today and it was absolutely fantastic. The staff could not have been friendlier, and made me feel as I was part of the community. The course was very challenging, but fair I thoroughly enjoyed by around. After my round, I stopped in for a cold beer at the hotel. Just a great day. I will definitely be returning.
Worst conditions I have ever seen
I played this course many times about 13 years ago. It has changed management since and has unfortunately went way down hill. The greens are the worst I have ever seen. They are ate up with crab grass and all of them look like they have been burned from the chemicals. One hole in the back 9 the green is so bad they blocked the green off and just stuck a flag in the middle of the fairway without a cup or anything. I believe I would be mad at paying half of the price they are charging with the condition that it is in.
First & Last time playing here
Heart breaking because the course has some awesome views and great elevated tee boxes but even if you do manage to stick the tight fairways the greens are just awful. We’re talking par 4’s cut in half and pins in the middle of the fairway bad. Putts looked like kick ball pitches, no cart girl, pace was a joke. Place could be great one day but until then spend more elsewhere. Owner should be ashamed.
Innsbruck 2025
Greens were terrible; crabgrass and dead spots on almost every green. They had at least one temporary tee box and at least one temporary green, but did not relay that information to us. The pace of play was awful and no one monitored it; it took almost five and a half hours. Will not be returning.
Could be better
Staff friendly, course pretty nice w great views. Some fairways a little narrow but it’s not ment to be an easy course. The conditions of the greens were horrendous, not sure what happened here! If they can get them back then I would recommend the course with a higher rating.
rundown
course was not well maintained all greens had at least 25% bad areas some were more sand and dirt than green. golf carts were very delapidated. nothing was said about cart path only but cart kept shutting off and had to back out. at turn we mentioned this to golf shop attendant his answer was huh will not go back
Innsbruck August 17, 25
The pace of play was terrible and no one monitored it the whole round. There were temporary tee boxes and greens they didn’t tell us about. The greens were in the worst shape of any greens I’ve ever played.
Save Your Money
I’ve played a lot of courses around Atlanta and the mountains of North Georgia. This course has lost green to dirt and weeds. Honestly this is the first bad review I’ve ever done on a course. Will not be back.
Life changing
Alright, here's a quick guide to writing a solid golf course review:
1. Start with the Basics: Name the course, where it's located, and the type of course it is (public, private, resort). Mention the overall vibe right off the bat – was it fancy, laid-back, challenging, scenic?
2. Describe the Course: Talk about the layout, the condition of the fairways and greens, and how well the course is maintained. Were the bunkers well-kept? How were the tee boxes? Note any standout holes or unique features, like water hazards, elevation changes, or signature views.
3. Assess the Difficulty: Is it beginner-friendly or better suited for experienced players? Talk about the length of the course, the tightness of the fairways, and the green
