Great course! Slow pace!
I've been to this course several times and the pace has always been kinda slow. The last time I went we had a 4 some in front of us and they took their sweet as time on every whole (we were a 3 some). We had a verbal argument on #11 and ended up skipping it because they were moving so slow. They didn't have anyone ahead of them for 2 holes and should have let us play through. The rate of play needs to be monitored.
Solid course.
I thought the course was in good shape. The greens ran true-moderate speeds-very undulated-make sure you are on the right tier or you will have some fun putts.. Tough course if you are not hitting it straight. Water and OB very prevalent on this course.
Need a ranger
Pace of play was incredibly slow. No ranger sighted. Also, beverage cart didn't come until around the 9th hole.
Not what is used to be
Mill Creek was my home course for high school golf and its gone downhill since then.
-no improvements with clubhouse/bar
-grass tees never open
- they put in mats
-course conditions aren't what they used to be
- price is normally competitive here so maybe that is what happened
- used to be $50+ all the time. I see deals no for $25 or $30.
Bottom Line- no terrible for money but would rather play Klein Creek in Winfield
This course is unique and challenging
It's a narrow course with plenty of character. Nice and plenty of hills. Greens are moderate speed with plenty of undulation.
Robert Shadow
The course played slow , we let a threesome play in front of us -- so our foursome did not lag -- and they were waiting too... Marshals don't help - just smile and wave ... " It is ok for them to tell us Hit When you are ready-- instead of the customary furthest from the hole ... " C'mon Man -- We are not pros and this custom only slows play ..The Cart girl we saw ONE TIME and it was 86 degrees... No sandwiches on cart and they were not pre-made in clubhouse , so lived on snickers bars .. That should not happen
Good Bang for the Buck
Can't beat it for the price. Great course for the money.
Mill Creek
I love this course. However, today they had sine type of scramble golf outing going on. This really slowed the play. 4 1/2 hours to get to the 18th hole. Long round.
Course needs to organize better
I signed up as a single, assuming when I got there I would be paired with a group less than 4. I was told I would play alone, which I thought was great play quickly and get in and out. The person inside said there was a few people and I may catch up with some. Unfortunately when I showed to the first tee there were groups already there. My time was 9:44 and I didn't tee off until well after 9:50. I played a couple holes and then those 2 groups allowed me to play through. I was alone on the course for a couple holes until I hit a bunch of foursomes in a row. If you're going to let a single play they assume there isn't a lot of people out there. Unfortunately there was no ranger on the course making sure the groups were playing at pace (which they were all slow) and to start there was no starter making sure groups were starting properly. And because they had all groups starting on the back (no idea why) the 10th hole is a par 4 that is easily drivable so it doesn't allow for 2 groups on it at a time. So the start will be backed up. I walked off the course after 9 holes as I would have waited 5-10 min almost a shot. It would have taken well over 2 hours to play that 9 and I had no where to go or play through to. Not good course management. I enjoyed the course but the staff needs to make sure they are putting full groups out when they can and don't let a single play in between a bunch of full groups.
Great time
Mill creek is a good course tight but not terrible. there blind water shots but the starter was very friendly and pointed them out before we started. Would defiantly go again. only negative is no GPS but plenty of range markers.
I'll be back
That was a really nice course that winds through the marsh lands. Plenty of places to lose ball if you go right or left.
This course has a nice layout
The course has a nice layout out but the sand traps are in poor conditions and the greens are in need of repairs..
overbooked
We played on a Sunday morning and found the course to be way overbooked. We came across a group of 5 in front of us . The ranger did work hard to get things moving. We were finally moving when we came up to a group of 6 on the same hole!!!!!!
What kind of nonsense is this?
Beautiful
I played this course for a second time. I shot a 79 from the black tees. The course is not all that difficult if you can hit the fairways. Its a very demanding driving course. If you can hit the fairways the greens are large but they have a lot of breaks in them. Watch out for pin location on number 14. There is a ridge in the center of the green that drops 45 degrees towards the front. Also watch left pin position on 9 on left side. A HUGE drop. Water is front left of 9 green. You cannot see the water or green on approach shot. It doglegs right. Beautiful course and smooth greens and fairways. This course has it all from sand and forced to make accurate shots.
white tees
I played the white tees as suggested as my CDGA handicap index is 22.8.It made my day very enjoyable for my handicap level on a very tough course
Very tight
Very good condition , very tight but could be longer
What A Joke
I hate giving bad reviews but I must say this course is in really bad shape. It looks as if the facility is broke. Greens are really slow, cart paths are all busted up and need to be replaced, general layout of the course is terrible. I can get past that but.... All the vegetation is extremely overgrown and there is completely no maintenance. They need to get a crew of workers and cut all the weeds and trim everything. There is a ton of work that needs to be done. On some tee boxes the weeds are so high that you could actually hit them with your drive. You can't even see the fairway from the tee box, its that bad. The community has a ton of money but its seems they do not support the golf course at all. Now the course is a wreck. My advice: buy about 30 weed wackers and 10 chainsaws and trim that place. Sorry Mill Creek I had to be honest!!
While we're young please!!
I played my best round of the season. It was spoiled, however, by an extra slow foursome in front of me. I actually timed them and it took 15 minutes to play a hole. It took me 5 hours to play 18 because of them.
Great value and a fun layout
I like Mill Creek for its unique layout. It presents interesting challenges from each set of tees. A round from the white tees feels a lot different than the blue tees on this course, so I like to alternate them when I play. Many days you can/should almost put the driver away from the white tees. One of my playing partners did and we both shot the same score (him from the whites and me from the blues), despite playing very different styles of golf. It's a pretty course for the western suburbs too, surrounded by nice homes.
With many online deals available from GolfNow, always a great value too.
Mill Creek
Course was cart path only so the pace of play was slow on front 9. We got to the 10th tee and they put a 3 some in front of us. When we got to the 11th tee they had 2 people walk off the street to join them. As if it wasn't slow enough who allows groups to start on the 10th hole in front of waiting groups? The ranger did all he could as the 5some was approved by the pro. They really should check his management skills as he obviously is not very smart as to how to run a course. I will never play there again.
