I don't know
I know we are in transition right now, so I'm trying to keep that in mind. First of all the pace of play was HORRIBLE, and forget a starter to regulate the pace, even though they have someone assigning carts to you. The conditions of the course were also pretty bad, the fairways are really bad, the carts (at least the ones in my group) had no sand bottles to fill in divots and it looked like others didn't either and the staff doesn't go through the fairway filling in the divots. The greens, well they're green, other than that they have 2-3 different types of grass on them with an under lying black algae in some spots and there are the dollar spots all through out and NOBODY fixes they're ball marks, ALOT, and you can tell the staff doesn't walk the green and fix the ball marks. You also need to keep your wits about you because the holes run along each other with golf balls from other holes being hit into the trees right next to you, now the carts have GPS which is GREAT but they don't track the carts ahead of you for you to be able to see where the group is ahead of you on a blind shot. This is tough because it's so beautiful and peaceful out there but it's the little things that can be done. Also the sand in the bunkers is the fluffiest I've ever seen, it's must be new and hasent had a chance to settle yet, my feet sank in the sand that's how soft and fluffy they were. Also, pay attention to where you are as they don't have arrows on the cart path pointing the way to the next hole and some are a little confusing. I would and will play again, I just really hope the staff reads this and talks about it on their weekly meetings. Give it a try and see what you think. Please respond if the course reads this, because I want to continue to play but really want to know things are being done or are going to be done
They Make It Work
With winter blues looming over the decent temps we've had off and on it's hard to remember that the courses need time to heal up for spring. Greens need some work but they adjusted their prices and make it worth it. Staff is always great and overall fun layout. Good course to zip over to for a quick round and a few drinks.
Thank you for visiting City Club and the kind words. We have been riding the temperature roller coaster lately and that can be hard on the course, but we are set up for a great spring season! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
We are sorry you were disappointed with your experience at City Club. It looks as though your main concern that day was the pace of play. If you could please provide us with a bit more information, we would love to have a chance to change your mind about us.
Nice Course
Greens are challenging but the condition is not very good. You have to be careful because some of the fairways are blind.
Thank you for playing City Club Marietta and the good rating. Unfortunately, you caught us coming off three inches of rain in the three days prior to your round and the maintenance crew was still working to recover. We hope to see you again soon.
Nice layout
The course had the elevation changes and unique holes that I was hoping for. There are a few straightforward short par 3s but otherwise it is a nice property with an interesting setup. I played here during a drought. The fairways were a little crusty for the price but the greens were in good shape for the mostpart. Pace of play was excellent and so were the people. A nice short track. Would play again.
Fun Course!
The weather was great and the course was even better! Highly recommended to try out! Staff was extremely accommodating and the pro shop was fully stocked. Can't wait to go back!
Thank you so much for playing City Club Marietta! We are experiencing some great fall weather right now so we hope to see you again soon.
City Club Marietta
The greens were in better shape than when we played in August/September. The course was in good shape, but the pace of play was horrific. It took us 5 hours to play, because a foursome four or five groups in front of us took FOREVER, looking for misplaced shots (far too many of those) or simply not paying attention to the fact that they were one, two, three and finally four or more holes behind. Making it worse was the fact that there was no ranger on the course enforcing the pace-of-play guidelines that the GPS unit clearly presents at the start of the round. I like the course and have not had such issues on previous rounds, but it was very frustrating waiting to hit every shot.
Always a challenge
Love the course. Fairways are open, difficult to lose a ball. Greens had a lot of moisture on them, so had to repair a lot of divots. But other than that always a good time playing here!
Marietta City Club
Enjoyed the course did not get to finish after starting at 3:50pm only play 13 holes due to pace of play and darkness
Surprising Empty
Really surprised on how quick we got through the round, for a Saturday afternoon no less. I’ve been here before and pace of play was an issue. Course was in good condition. Greens were extremely soft and slow. One wedge shot actually plugged in the green. Overall, an A-
Thank you for playing City Club and for the kind words. We are glad you enjoyed the pace of play, it is amazing how a slate of good college football games can affect a Saturday afternoon tee sheet! The greens are recovering from our fall aerification and should return to their normal speed and firmness soon. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Very disappointed especially for the price
We played this course about 10 years ago and were stunned at the difference. The bunkers were a travesty. You could see the burlap base poking throughout the bunkers. The greens were in poor shape nearly unputtable due to the softness of the greens that caused huge divots and ball marks even on short soft pitch shots. There were not enough hole directional signs so getting around was a bit of challenge at times. You need a lot of local course knowledge due to numerous blind tee shots. On the positive side the views are awesome and although the course is on the short side it is challenging and you will need to play every club in the bag. Also the food stand on the 9th green was nice and convenient. Probably will not come back for another 10 years.
We are certainly sorry you did not enjoy your experience at City Club. It has been a long, hot summer and it has taken it's toll on a few of the greens. That is one of the reasons they were soft, we are trying to keep them alive. The crew is working hard to get the greens in shape for the fall season and we have bunker repairs slated for this winter. We look forward to the opportunity to change your mind on waiting ten years.
After Work Quick Round
Course was n decent shape. Still need some work on the greens, Course is wide open and easy to score. Greens are hard and dry. Hole eight is a Par 5. You need a good tee shot to make it it 3 shots to the green. Hole 11 is a short par four using your Driver could be danger. Yardage is wrong on all the holes. Hole 13 should be easy if you stay out of the sand trap.
Thank you for playing City Club. The crew is working hard to get a few of the greens back in shape for the fall season. It sounds as though you might have had the nine reversed, throwing off the yardages. You have hole #8 correct, but #11 is fairly open (#2 is short and tight) and there is no bunker on hole #13. We look forward to seeing you again soon.
Cart path only is a problem
Very hilly, challenging course. Enjoyed everything except it was cart path only when I played and that made it a very long slog. I got worn out before I could get to the ball.
Enjoyed playing here
Nice course overall. Some greens need some work. They have weeds growing up on them. And the layouts have some fairways side by side a little tight for amateurs. The gps in the cart is nice to have.
Okay
Okay fairways, nice carts with gps, but greens were in bad shape.
Thank you for the kind words and the recommendation. A few of the greens have struggled this summer with the heat, but the staff is working hard to have them in great shape for the Fall season. We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Nice round, but greens needed some work
The course itself was in good shape, but the greens were showing signs of wear. The greens still rolled well, but there were a lot of ball marks that weren't properly repaired and the greens showed it. Overall the course was in good shape and it was an enjoyable round. I would play again.
Thank you visiting us. Unfortunately, during the hot weather we have to give the greens some extra water to keep them alive and this leads to softer conditions and more ball marks. We encourage everyone to follow the "And One" rule, where you fix your mark and one other as it leads to better playing conditions for everybody. Thank you and we look forward to seeing you again.
Enjoyed the round!
We played in just over 3 hrs which is great for an Atlanta area course. Liked the facilities, including the range and practice putting and chipping green. Even had a beverage/snack cart during the round, unusual for a weekday! The staff, from the cashier in the pro shop, to the starter, and even maintenance crew were very friendly and accommodating. The course itself is laid out well but several greens were in bad shape. But maintenance was working on them, without interfering with our play. We WILL return!
Thank you for the great review and your understanding about the greens. It has been a long, hot summer but the crew has worked hard and the greens should be back in great shape for fall. We look forward to seeing you again.
City Club
Course was good. Got to play with three good players.
Thank you for playing City Club, we are glad you enjoyed the company.
Short and Tight
Excellent for working on your short game.
Thank you for visiting us. We work hard to prove that a little dog can have big teeth!
Mr. Gates,
We are sorry that you did not enjoy your experience at City Club the other day. Unfortunately, we are still in the transition period where the grass has not begun to grow again. That, coupled with the nice weather and the increase in traffic, has had an impact on course conditions. We should be back in great shape shortly. I checked the pace of play that day as we are always concerned with movement on the course. According to the tracking on the GPS system, your cart left the first tee at 12:20PM and came off number eighteen at 4:29PM for a round time of 4:09, which is actually six minutes ahead of our time par. It may have felt slower, but on a busy day like we had, it is well within acceptable standards. Also, the GPS system does provide tracking of carts in front of you on holes 6, 8 and 15 where we have blind shots. You may have just missed it as it only displays the cart locations until you have cleared the blind area. You are correct that the bunker sand is still a bit fluffy, we recently went through and added sand to improve conditions before we get into spring and it will just take a little time for the sand to settle and become more compact. We look forward to seeing you again when we are experiencing better growing conditions and the course is in great shape. If you have any other questions, please feel free to contact me at any time.
