City Club Marietta, hole 8 Photo submitted by TimGavrichGP on 12/06/2019
Course in good condition, but service was lacking...
The course was in great condition. The service from the staff was lacking though. I had the first tee time of the morning at 730am and was informed the driving range was closed because they had not picked balls yet from the day before. Also, they gave me attitude when I asked for a cart 15 minutes prior to my tee time to get myself organized.
Bad weather took it's toll
This is the first time I've played the course in 2014 and it looks like the winter weather took it's toll on the course. The greens are in good shape but everywhere else is beat up pretty bad. Hopefully by Fall the course will have a chance to recover. This is a great place to play when the course is in better shape.
Excellent Greens
The course is coming along well since winter.
Fairways were still dormant and dry but the greens were in great shape.
Too Slow
They need to figure out how to manage these kinds of days better. Second time in a row playing this course where we sat at every tee box waiting for at least 15 minutes.
Staff were arrogant and abrasive
On arrival at the course I was told I couldn't return to my car in my golf buggy to load my golf bag and items as it was "illegal" to do so even though this was my 4th different course I was playing that week and the other three had not spoken such nonsense. The marshall then watched me load my bag onto the buggy and then advised me buggies cannot go anywhere near the practice ground where I was heading. There were three in my group and we were approached by another golfer saying he had been grouped with us. We were told it was because "we had each booked online". What possible difference that made was beyond me. We objected so this player was then grouped in with a two ball two groups ahead which made much more sense. The course was in excellent condition. However we waited at every shot on every hole. The experience was a terrible one and I will not return here. Be warned!
Great views
The starter let my wife and I go off early so we could play alone. Very nice course. We enjoyed it. Need to pay attention to the yardage off the tee.
Course is challenging but fun
Always enjoy the course and it's usually in pretty good shape. The price is fair for a round. Not a deal by any stretch.
Bogey Golfer
Loved the GPS on the carts! Greens were not in that great of shape, fairways were dry, but course played well. Gorgeous scenery and course played well to all player types
Excellent
It was a pleasure being out with my friend. The course and staff was excellent. I will be back....
Good Layout
First time here. Liked the course. Greens recently aerated and grass not green up yet, would likely be a better experience later in the season, but not bad for early in the year.
Great course but needs a little help
I've always enjoyed playing CCM but I'm really hoping that the conditions of the course is just the start of spring and they will improve quickly. I recommend they ditch the painted rocks for tee box markers and spruce up the course.
The greens were slow and chunky with sand. Again I hope in a couple of weeks they are completely different.
Overall I enjoy this course and will play in either conditions just hate to see such a beautiful course not in it's prime.
Slow Play
I like playing this course but it can get slow ont he weekends. I booked this round on a Monday so I was expecting a quick round of golf, unfortuantly the course was having a tournament with a shot-gun start of 18 four-somes. I started just before the shotgun but shortly there-after the course was packed like a Sunday. My round took a little over 4.5 hours to play which is normal for this course on a weekend but much too slow for a Monday. Had I known there was a tournament I would have played elsewhere. I enjoyed playing the course but not the pace of play for a Monday.
Good city course
Convenient course for city dwellers. I play it mostly in the winter months
Good course, rude employee
We had a great time playing here, up until the last hole. One of the staff came around on a golf cart to warn everyone that the course would be closing soon (twilight round) and to only play one more hole. He told us this as we were teeing off on 14, and we were fine with it. He then came around as we were walking off the green on the same hole and was extremely rude saying something like "I already warned you guys that we were closing a while ago, you should have been back at the clubhouse already. I shouldn't have to come out and tell you again."
First - I'm not tiger woods, but we played 14 at about average pace and I wouldn't say that it took us longer than any normal hole. Second - all of the golf carts have GPS systems, so he should know that we were on the same hole the entire time.
I like this course, and I'll be back, but I've never been treated so poorly by a staff member. You would think I was some kid goofing around.
cart gps a big plus
I've played this course several times and find it challenging. I love the gps feature on the carts which is rare on public courses.
Tough day
Wet and sloooow - several twosomes not paired up - several elderly and walkers combined for a 5 hour round.
City Club
This is my 'home course' I would recommend this to any one.
Ground Hardness
It was very difficult getting the tee in the ground. One major plus is the fact that the fact that the staff won't hold me to my tee time. If I get there early, they will let me play early if there is no one playing in that spot.
City Club my home course
I've played here 40+ times and still find this course challenging and enjoyable. Well maintained course. They usually close the range on Monday mornings.
Challenging Exec course
I'm not usually a fan of exec courses but we tried this and liked it ok. It's short with a lot of blind shots and doglegs, holes close together, and all the greens have severe slopes around them. Once I got to know the course I'm sure I'd enjoy it more as I learned how to manage it. Their normal price is too high for me but acceptable when discounted.
