nice course great location
Nice course close in to atlanta. A short course that requires proper club selection. All clubs in the bag are needed for this course. Fairways are pristine. Rough is a little thick. Only problem area is that the greens are extremely receptive and people aren't fixing their ball marks.
A good deal if you use golfnow.
thanks
Great Course for the Fee
What a pleasant surprise, excellent course, if you need a challenge and tired of the flat sand trapped lined greens and a change, City Club offers you a sudden awakening, I will return even with a 1hr drive.
Beautiful setting. Interesting terrain. Fun to play.
Spent a great day playing at Marietta City Club with my son. Course was in good shape, although the greens had been aeriated the week before. Knowing the greens condition, we enjoyed our play regardless. Good course for average players. Great staff.
this is one of the best courses in the area. Pleasant views
was a little dissapointed in the rough areas. Looks like it had just been cut but access clumps of dried grass made it hard to find the ball. The greens were fair but i do understand they had just been aerated. Could have offered better discount.
Shot makers gem
Course is in great shape, greens just aerated 9/6/2013. This is a shot maker’s course with the ruff high you will lose a few balls. I had a hard time, but will be back again, just love this Old school little course. Secret bonus on the 19th hole at hotel bar, great pints!
A fun, open yet fairly challenging course that's always kept in fairly good condition
Nice greens (not to fast or firm) but you get a true roll and they look pretty good (couple holes have some rough spots). Nice fairways and tee boxes, very open, and not to many hazards to loose a golf ball. Playing out of the rough can create a challenge since it is kept at about 2 1/2" and some challenging lies around the green make this a fun couse that can challenge any handicap.
Course was in great shape.
I've played City Club Marietta twice now, both times the course has been in great shape. The greens was tough for me to get a feel for, but other than that it was perfect. It is not a long golf course, but don't let the yardage fool you. If you don't place the ball in the fairway, your second shot will be extremely difficult (the way golf is supposed to be).
Decent course
Hit or miss with respect to time of play --- sometimes you can fly through the course in less than 4 hours but generally, too many amateurs with little respect for others playing behind and who take too long to play their round.
The staff are friendly, the GPS carts are great (especially for many of the holes with blind spots), the course is well maintained (stay out of the rough).
One of my favorites
This is a great course. It has a few very challenging holes and a great layout. This course is over 100 yrs old and an amazing golf course. Best public course I know of anywhere near Marietta, ga. They have an awesome practice facility with 2 huge putting/ chipping greens, a great sand area for hitting fairway and green side sand shots and an ample natural grass tees. this place has a few drawbacks that other golf courses don't. You can't take a golf cart into the parking lot and if it's busy the parking lot can be a hike. Range fees are alright but could be better. The employees weren't hired for their personality, but Chelsea is sweet. The one thing I hate the most is that their ranger doesn't open till noon on Mondays. I never go play on Mondays because of that. These are snack things but overall this a fantastic golf course. love playing and practicing here.
Decent Course
Decent course if you have a deal. There's a lot spots that need some attention
Great Value Anytime
I've been playing this course at times over the last 5 years. It is in the best shape I have ever seen. As always you have to find the fairways to shoot a good score. Fair test of all shots, but not onerous.
Decent quick, lots of rain and in ok shape
Ok for how much rain they have had recently, has some strange holes. But some fun ones too
Grass in amazing shape with more rainfall
Course in best shape I have seen. Wish people would fix their ball marks on the greens.
Marietta Oasis
I've played this course many times and it never ceases to amaze me. The course is very well maintained and scenic. The 1st hole is an introduction into links sanctuary. I really enjoyed my experience despite the large grass shavings left on a few holes (1,9 and 18), I will definitely return again sooner than later.
Sunday in the rough
Started play at 3pm as a walkon. Was placed with a twosome from a foreign land...
Driving range was in fair shape, practice greens were pristine as always.
Course was freshly cut and in very lush conditions from all the recent rain. Grass clippings were left all over the place which made finding your ball almost impossible in the 3 inch rough.
Greens were soft and very receptive to approach shots along with healthy and well groomed fringes. The greens were also damaged from ball marks, dead spots, and spiked cups.
Maybe without all the water we have been getting recently the greens might have been in better overall condition. This along with the unkept rough created the majority of the challenge for the round.
Staff was nice for the most part and let me play on after the first 18 until 8:30pm. The forigeners joined me for the second loop. One threw the flag stick several feet behind him like a discarded ciggarette butt being flipped to the curb. Told him to take it easy on the greens... His response was pathetic and dismissive of the damage he had just caused. Must have been all the beer that got the better of him.
The staff was dismissive of the issue saying "Thats what happens when you walk on" when I brought it up to them after leaving the twosome somewhere on number 2. Epic fail. Pro shop was attentive and helpful as always.
Good value for the money, good condition, not too crowded
We played on a Sunday at 10 AM, we never had to wait on anyone and didn't have any pressure from golfers behind us. The course was in good condition, it was a good value for the money.
Fun And Not Too Long
This is a well maintained course that is not too long for the average golfer. The greens are in excellent shape and soft. Fairways are bermuda and good shape. Nice location with excellent staff.
Course is in great shape!
Greens are fairly fast but fair. The staff was helpful and somewhat friendly. Great course and an awesome price!
This course is an intriguing challenge
City Club Marietta is not an extremely long course (5,721 yards from the back tees), but it is an intriguing challenge. With a number of elevation changes and a variety of holes that bend in both directions, and vary in length from a 137 yard par 3 to a 570 yard par 5, there is plenty to offer golfers of all skill levels. As a former country club, it has a full practice facility, including not only a driving range with both grass and Astroturf mats and two practice putting, but also a chipping/pitching green, practice sand trap and fairway bunker. I enjoy it regularly as my home course, and a good place to practice when I don't have time for a full nine or 18.
Soft greens but in good shape in spite of rain amount lately.
Good conditions in spite of rain amounts we have had lately.
