Don’t go here
Have played Glendale lakes in the past with pretty positive experiences. They don't have a range and it isn't the best as far as trap maintenance. Now recently I played a round and got a rain check and when redeemed they wouldn't accept a photo copy. Never have I heard of a course that absolutely needs a hard copy really wish I heard that from the kid who gave me a receipt. Also, was disrespected by there pro shop attendant who thought I wasn't following the rules. I wouldn't recommend this course because not only is it not well maintained it's staff is brutal.
Too much water
I’ve played in Florida many times and this golf course has more water everywhere than many of those golf courses. You add the fact that it rained which flooded 80% of the bunkers so they became water traps instead of sand traps, the place was extremely difficult to play on. Also many of the fairways are bumpered on each side by water, again making this very course very challenging for the amateur golfer. In addition half the greens are very soft and the other half are fairly hard even with the rains that we had… This again makes course much more difficult than it actually is. Also for close to half of the round, we couldn’t drive off of the cart paths. This course is not laid out very well for this kind of option, and I would’ve passed on coming if I’d known this ahead of time. It’s slow down the process for all of us.
Tee times not always accepted!
Golf now and Glendale need to get it together. I book a tee time, confirmed from golf now. Show up to play Sunday morning and the course says “we don't have your reservation and We don’t have any more tee times”. Absolutely no concern for my fellow golfer and I. Glendale didn’t care and simply said we can’t help you. Golf now is conveniently closed on Sunday’s, so they can’t help. Now you get to blame each other and ignore your customers? What an absolutely unacceptable joke. No effort from Glendale to attempt amends. For a course already swirling the drain they lost even more customers due to a total lack of any customer service. Booked your tee time? Not guaranteed here!
More water than expected.
As the title says, more water than expected. I don't get out much so my game has deminished. I did not expect so many holes to have water in them. Not just water on the left or right, some holes had water on both sides. Challenging. As others have said, sand is non-existent in all sand traps and I ended up in 5. Fairways were good and greens in great shape.
A good day
Greens were smooth and challenging, and the sand traps were dirt holes. Put some sand in the traps please.
pity about the bunkers
Some challenging (but fair) holes with all the water hazards, accuracy very important. Tees and fairways in great shape, greens had quite a few marks, they were very soft as they'd been watered so much. The main downside were the bunkers, the surface in them wouldn't be out of place in the parking lot.
Always a challenging course
Played this course several times a year but always find it a challenge to post good scores. It’s fun when playing with friends specially at the 19th hole after the game sharing stories of disastrous holes marring your possible good round. Fairways are really good these warm days when it’s dry. Will be back again for more fun.
Nice course
Good layout for challenging play. The only issue course holds water on many tee boxes and certain holes. I would play here again.
Great course
A good mix of challenging and straightforward holes. Course was in great condition despite weather in the area being poor leading up to the round. There is no driving range at the course and the beverage cart started a little late but overall a great course and a very fair price point.
Greens were a little slow but course was in great condition. Some bunkers were not that good.
First Impressions
Thanks to GolfNow, I found a new local course that I will likely play again in the near future. I don't know if I was lucky with the timing of my round, but I was very content with finishing a weekend round in under 3 hours. Overall I thought the course had a decent layout, but there are certainly a few holes where fairways are rather tight with water hazards that come into play.
Pros:
- Tees, fairways, and greens were fairly well maintained, and the green rolled pretty true.
- Multiple water holes make a shorter course a bit more challenging for golfers trying to test the accuracy of their shot placement.
Cons:
- The bunkers around the course were in need of some attention and needed much more sand and less rocks and pebbles.
Overall, I appreciated the general layout of the course and look forward to playing again to beat today's score... Hopefully my next visit won't have another triple bogey on a par 4 where I hit two balls into the water!
