Signature 9th—very memorable par 5 Photo submitted by gshawcross on 08/14/2013
Great Course
Very well maintained, friendly, staff. Greens and fairways were in excellent condition.
Aerated greens
I love playing this course but when I booked I was not informed that the greens had just been aerated. It was like putting on the beach.
Thank you for the feedback and we apologize that your last experience was not up to par. Our greens have healed perfectly and are running smooth since our last aerification back in July. We hope you come back and give Stonebridge another shot.
1st round was a good one.
My first time playing Stonebridge. Staff was friendly and helpful. The driving range was in great shape with plenty of grass on tee. Lots of flags to go at. They have a practice bunker that was in good shape and power raked. Greens were perfect condition and fast if you were above the hole. Pace of play was good for a Saturday. I really liked the layout. Used several clubs off the tee on the par 4’s and 5’s. Overall it was a great experience and I’ll be back.
Thank you for the review. We are glad to hear your 1st round was a good one and we look forward to seeing you again soon.
Thanks for your 5 star review! We appreciate your business and hope to see you back again soon... practicing or playing!
Great Course
You can’t beat this course for the money. Pace was excellent. The course was in great shape. The greens were perfect. Will definitely play there again, soon.
Thanks for your 5 star review! We're so glad that you had a great experience with us. Looking forward to having you play again soon.
Pace of play
This is a great course. But no rangers, a group of 5 on a Saturday afternoon had golfers backed up. They did not offer to let anyone play through. We finally had to skip ahead 2 holes to finish our round before dark.
Thanks for your review, Joe. We apologize that you struggled with pace of play. There shouldn't have been a group of 5 ahead of you so we so we apologize that was the case. It is always our goal to have marshals moving groups along, but sometimes, we're unable to send some out. We'll work to ensure that is not an issue moving forward. Hope to see you again soon.
Another great day on the course
Played 9/29 on a hot Sunday. Pace was a little slow due to 2 foursomes in front of us. With that said we still played in 4 hours so not too bad. Course was in great shape tee to green. Had wonderful lies in the fairways and greens were very receptive and rolled very true. Nothing but good things to say. keep up the good work.
Thanks for your 5 star review. We hope you enjoyed your time in Georgia and will visit us again sometime son.
Risk/reward takes center stage
A round at Stonebridge centers around the risk/reward plays offered by the four par 5s. Solid drives off the tee will leave players with a decision to make, with three of the four promising dire consequences for a misplayed gamble.
The first of the bunch, the fifth, is fairly benign with virtually no hazards. The ninth, however, is the course’s signature hole, complete with the namesake stone bridge. A drive of at least 250 yards from the blue tees is going to make you want to go for it. And with a manageable carry of 225-240 yards, it is enticing. But it is all carry over a watery grave. Even the layup to an adjacent fairway can be problematic in trying to fit the shot between the lake and backing fairway bunkers.
The back-nine par 5s are short but require second shots over barrancas. The genius in the designs are that the shots aren’t so long that they are intimidating - in fact the length seduces you to go for it. But, hitting a number is required or bogey or worse comes into play.
The holes that play around the lake in the middle of the round (9-11) are very memorable.
The par 3s are fairly benign, with only the 15th offering any real trouble around the green. The other three do not have any hazards or bunkers surrounding them. Grass swales and contoured greens offer the only defense.
Although there are plenty of bunkers on the layout, most notably figuring into the three short par 4s, they usually aren’t really in play for the better golfer. The traps serve as optical illusions and bolster one of the course’s chief design characteristics: the targets from fairway approaches and all par 3 tee shots appear to have very little green to play to. This however is deceiving, as there is usually much more green to work with in each case.
Despite being a tree-lined course, the fairways are very wide and give plenty of room.
Beware of the footgolf holes (usually 2 per hole) and their corresponding flags. They should be easy to differentiate from the actual greens and flags, but they are distracting.

Great layout
Greens were aerated on 7/29 - 7/30. They are healing nicely. Will be phenomenal in a week or so. Tee to green a great course. Fairways gave great lies and the rough was not penalizing. Play was a little slow but overall not too bad. I appreciate the notice of the greens being aerated and the course lowering the price. Can't wait to come back.
Thank you for the great review. We are glad you came out to play during the aerification process. The greens have made tremendous progress since July 29 and will lightning fast in no time. We look forward to seeing you soon.
Hidden Gem
Incredible golf course. Fun for all skill levels, always in great shape. The grill is a little pricey for what you get, but that’s only a minor thing. Staff is really friendly. It’s a great place to play.
Thank you so much for your review. We value your feedback, and hope to see you back soon.
Great value for the money
Played on Sun 7/14. Crowded but pace of play was 4 hours not bad at all. Staff was very friendly. tee to green the course was in really good shape. The greens were firm but receptive and rolled true. Fairways were in tip top shape. I did not have a bad lie anywhere. Since it my first time playing I was a little cautious on a few of the holes. Will be more aggressive on the par 5's next time. Number 9 is great par 5 with a 2nd shot of around 230 over water for the brave. The starter and the on course Marshall couldn't have been any nicer. Great day of golf. Well worth the drive to Rome.
Thank you so much for your review. We value your feedback, and look forward to hearing about you hitting #9 in two during your next round. Hope to see you soon!

Another awesome day
Had another great time golfing this course. Been coming here several times every year since they opened 25 years ago. Will continue to keep coming here .
Thank you for your review and for being a loyal customer. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.
Loved it!
Excellent conditions. Greens were well taken care of. They were quick with some break. A few fairways were tight, approach shots were challenged, the water views were very pretty, it was a flatter track so minimal elevation changes and all par 3s were downhill. Will definitely go back.
We appreciate you taking the time to leave your wonderful comments and great review. Hope to see you back again soon.
Favorite Course
I play many courses around Atlanta and North Georgia and Stonebridge has always been my favorite. I have to travel a good distance but it is a very pleasant drive and well worth the time.
Thanks for making the trip to play our course on a regular basis! We appreciate your loyalty and the time you took to leave this review. See you again soon.
Hidden Gem
Stonebridge is the definition of a hidden gem of a golf course. Tees, fairways, greens, everything in fantastic condition. Pace of play was expectedly slower, given it being a holiday, but we still finished in under 4:25. Terrific layout that is challenging, yet fair. Great combination of holes, from short to long par fours, risk/reward holes, and the par threes are a fun collection. All in all a great experience, which, for the price, you absolutely cannot beat. Worth the extra 10-15 min drive from some of the other courses in a similar price range. Definitely will be back!
