Sloppy
Course was soaked, back 9 closed, cart path only. Not the courses fault that it was soaked but should have let us know beforehand. Don't like playing with wet socks and shoes...

Playing golf in February
Wow, this was a first. Playing golf in February and had a great time. The course was not busy and the pace was excellent. The fairways were in great shape. The greens exceeded my expectations considering it's still winter. Most traps were playable. Course was clear of leaves and debris. This course has character and will make memorable holes. Had a wonderful time and will return.

Dumbest Front 9 in Illinois
Had a 4pm tee time. Ranger stopped us at the turn to the back 9 and said head back you won't finish the back 9 in time. Basically they all wanted to go home early plenty of time was left to play the back 9 before sundown. Also, they sent foursomes out about every 2 minutes. Huge traffic jam.
And just gotta say maybe the dumbest and goofiest front 9 in Illinois.

Since the weather was cold no one was there to play, and I was first one to teeoff all by myself.

I can't find a better value close to Chicago than this course. Always in decent shape,easy to get to, and always affordable. No complaints at all.

2nd and last time
Golfed at Hilldale for a second time this golf season and it was the nail in the coffin. I can not even begin to describe the pace of play. Standing on tee boxes for 10, sometimes 15-20 minutes. A Friday afternoon round lasting 5.5 almost 6 hours. No rhythm while playing and the air raided greens were horrible as well.
For what you pay you just want to play a decent pace of play and have conditions somewhat normal. I couldn’t get over the pace of play. Holes 15-18 took a 2 hours. That’s insane. On top of this the second time I’ve come here I’ve been somewhat rudely talked to in the pro shop. Only semi friendly person was the sausage guy at the turn.
Too many other good options in the area to subject yourself to this kind of establishment. Never againZ

Greens are great tee boxes are chewed up
Management needs to spend some money to fix the tee boxes. Night and day difference if you compare the conditions of current greens and tee boxes.
