Very close to the tollway.
Very easy to get to, very playable for any level of golfer.
Quiet but very challenging course

Incredible value
I can't find a better value close to Chicago than this course. Always in decent shape,easy to get to, and always affordable. No complaints at all.

2nd and last time
Golfed at Hilldale for a second time this golf season and it was the nail in the coffin. I can not even begin to describe the pace of play. Standing on tee boxes for 10, sometimes 15-20 minutes. A Friday afternoon round lasting 5.5 almost 6 hours. No rhythm while playing and the air raided greens were horrible as well.
For what you pay you just want to play a decent pace of play and have conditions somewhat normal. I couldn’t get over the pace of play. Holes 15-18 took a 2 hours. That’s insane. On top of this the second time I’ve come here I’ve been somewhat rudely talked to in the pro shop. Only semi friendly person was the sausage guy at the turn.
Too many other good options in the area to subject yourself to this kind of establishment. Never againZ

Greens are great tee boxes are chewed up
Management needs to spend some money to fix the tee boxes. Night and day difference if you compare the conditions of current greens and tee boxes.

Fun Course To Play
Played this course many times. Today was the first time I've ever seen pretty good-sized holes in a couple of the greens. Otherwise course was in good shape overall,

Pleasure to play
I’m originally from the Chicago area having lived and worked here and we come back for a couple of months every year and HillDale is one of the courses on my list to play at least three times. Well maintained,love the layout and the people are cool. The value is great!
Things that can be better:
Fix cart paths, many are in poor condition.
Get a ranger to first tee. People are going wherever they want, switching from back 9 to front 9 and jumping from 7th back to 3rd. It's a madhouse. I had two groups leave in front of me and I was still behind another group.
None of the golf ball washers had water in them.
LOVED the greens and the course itself. Management of the course can be vastly improved.

Cart guy with moustache
The guy in charge of the carts is grumpy/grouchy. He is the one with the moustache. Needs to learn how to tone down his voice and learn people skills. You can not be argumentative in this kind of business. It appears he is forcing himself to work but prefers to be somewhere else really. Next time I may video his manner of speaking and dealing with customers and I will send the video to management.

Nice Robert Trent Jones Design
Hilldale is a medium length course with quick undulating greens. Some holes are tricky and require local knowledge, so play it twice!

Round with Friend
I got a great price and played with a good friend. We had a fun time and enjoyed getting outside even if weather is starting to cool off. The course had some tough holes. We played with a father and son that were also fun to play with. The staff was friendly as well.
