Very good golf for the money

Hard course, strong layout, knock is that fairway isn’t flat, very bad lies in the fairway stance wise, sometimes better off in the rough where it is flatter which is frustrating. Slow greens but they roll true.

Heritage

It’s looking good again. Definitely back on my list of near in town spots. Nice folks work out there which makes it enjoyable as well.

Uneven Lies

I hadn't played this course since before Dr. J owned it. However, I was reminded on this round of the likely reason that statement is true. First of all, the course looks beautiful and the staff was great! The tee times were 10 minutes apart so, you know how slow the round was. The pace picked up a little after the turn because the course ranger made the groups ahead of us speed up. The greens were a dark rich green color and very receptive but sadly, they were full of pitch marks because nobody was repairing them. I blame the players for this and not the grounds crews. My main complaint with this course is there are very few flat surfaces other than the tee boxes. Hitting the ball into the fairway only guaranteed that you'd find it. If you struggle with uneven lies (like me) you won't enjoy this course. Even the greens were full of undulations and plateaus. The guy we were paired with was a great ball striker but by hole 7, he was noticeably as frustrated as my friend and I. If, you like playing courses with constant elevation changes and uneven lies, you will LOVE this course. The GPS screen in the carts also offered a real time drone flyover view of each hole but, that didn't help us. LOL!

Good challenge despite some damaged greens

I was impressed by the quality of the fairways & tees as well as the course layout. There are some very challenging holes with forced water carries so choose your tees wisely. Overall, most greens are in good shape but there are some damaged greens but that shouldn't ake away from the overall golfing experience. The sand in the bunkers varies between each nine with deep, heavy sand on one course & shallow, light sand on the other nine.

Pace of play was steady (5 hour round overall) which got painful on the second nine as some players got slower & slower the further they went. It looked like they chose the wrong tees to play from & were carving the ball all over the place & spending plenty of time looking for balls in the trees. Don't be embarrassed to play from the forward tees - know your ability & you'll enjoy the game even more.

I definitely will be back to play this course again.

Good , bad, and the ugly

I really want to like it here, but I just don’t.

Great practice areas. Range was mats only but it was wet so that’s fine. $12 for a small bucket wasn’t cool but whatever.

Huge putting green. Separate chipping green. And full bar outside by this area.

Layout is meh. You play the same hole a few times but not terrible.

Huge soft greens are nice but I have some issues…

1. Some greens are in very bad shape, especially on Tradition. Given that, don’t put the pin in the worst area of the green. We all picked up on one green because it was unplayable. Most were in good shape though.

2. They’re too soft for a public course. 50+ unrepaired ball marks on every green. Very annoying to put through all the craters. Make your patrons fix their ball marks or firm them up a bit.

Pace was awful!! 2 hours to play the front was ok I guess. But almost 3 hours on the back. You can’t send a bunch of twosomes behind 2 foursomes of people who are playing the wrong tees. Marshall was super nice but was not helping.

If you can get a hot deal I’d say it’s worth it, but I’d never pay full price here.

AMAZING FOR THE PRICE

i paid under $20 to play here on a Monday evening after work. with my $10 coupon from golf now + a hot deal. this place was probably the best course in the area for that price 100% i think the normal price is like $30 on a weekday. course is in immense condition. compared to what it usually is (i was told by the guy i was playing with who has played there for years) the course layout is challenging and fun. i played Legacy —> Heritage. would definitely recommend!

Much better than expected

The course was in great condition, greens were better than most courses I’ve played. Layout was challenging but not too hard. Only issues were the cart paths ands amenities but I’m pretty sure they’re working in both.

Worst course is georgia

From the staff (Kenneth) who had a terrible attitude ever since I walked into the pro shop to the course conditions make me truly believe that this is one of the worst courses I’ve ever played on. Greens terrible slow, so many pitch marks that you can’t roll the ball straight if you wanted too. Took me 1 hour to play 4 holes. Won’t be back

Overrated in city course

For the price, not there - no flat fairways and greens are akin to putt puttt golf.

Things are coming together

I've played HGL a few times each year, took a break when the renovations were taking too long. I was impressed with the way things have come together for the club. The Legacy and Heritage are in good condition and enjoyable to play..the best condition I've seen in several years. Well maintained by the crew, just need fellow players to do their part to repair divots. New carts this week are the upgrade we can all enjoy!

Awesome facility but disappointing greens

First time playing here. Very nice facility and course layout but definitely disappointed with the conditions of the greens on the course, especially on Tradition. Flags positioned in front of the green in the fairways with no opportunity to putt. Given the conditions there should have been a discount provided on the rate! Also should have been some sort of information regarding the Legacy course is only open on the weekends.

Course review 082525

First time ever playing the back nine across the bridge. Needless to say I was disappointed. All the renovation money should have been split into this back nine as well. The front nine looked like a machine gun went off on the greens. Does anyone repair divot plus one?

If I recall correctly, they're selling tradition for an apartment complex so they won't be putting any money into it.
