Southland Golf & Country Club

The course layout is very good. The greens were in very good condition; the tee boxes on the front nine needed a lot of work, the tee boxes on the back nine were much better. The cart paths were in really bad condition. The golf carts were gas powered and we were worried they were going to die in the middle of our round I had to pump the gas pedal to get it to start, the brakes barely worked, not very safe. We payed $65 per golfer, definitely not a $65 value. If you can get a tee time for $25 or less you might consider golfing here, otherwise I cannot recommend this course. The staff is not going to go out of their way to help you, so if customer service is something you value this is not the course for you. Between the golf carts in such disrepair and the customer service and what we paid for a tee time, I couldn’t help but think we were on Candid Camera.

First the Good:

• Staff was friendly

• You won’t find any better greens at any public course in the metro ATL area

• Challenging fairways (hilly course)

Now the Bad:

• Bring your own beverages. No beverage cart, no water stations in the course. Only regular sugared drinks (Coke and Powerade) at the ‘club house’.

• All but one sand bunker had sand on it

• Cart paths are in horrible shape ALL are damaged from roots

I wish this golf course could find some investors to put some money in the facilities. It would be a gem if the cons mentioned above could be addressed. Would I play again? Absolutely I would, but I ‘ll have an open mind of what to expect once I return.

There are some very good things about the golf course and there are some very bad.

The good: fairways are in great condition, greens roll true, a little slow but roll perfectly, the course layout is challenging but fair except for number 8, which makes no sense at all, the staff is very nice, and since hardly anyone is on the course, the pace of play is excellent. Value for money is great.

The bad: I used to not care, but the cart path conditions are too bad for me to handle anymore. There is no way to explain how bad they are. Tee boxes: most of them are OK, but some have no grass, and you can't even get your tee in the ground. Carts- someone will get hurt one day. No breaks. Nothing to eat at the clubhouse except a candy bar or two; no water to drink on the course (although the pro shop person reminded me of that and asked me to take extra water and ice with me; number 10 does not come back to the pro shop), and the clippings from the grass cut do get in the way of ball rolling in the middle of fairways.

So it just depends on what you are looking for. If you want a good course with good value and no one around pressing you so you can play at your own pace, this is it; if you want a premium "golf experience" that goes beyond golf, this is not it.

Fairways and green in great shape. Rough should be cut down lower. Traps, cart path, no water on course keep people away. Still a good respite getaway. Greens are fantastic. I woul play again despite the downside stuff. Bring your cooler with drink and food and you will enjoy.

Great lesser known course that is perfect for mid week and weekend play. Not to crowded and prices are very reasonable.

Arrived at 2:45 for our 3pm tee time. Was told there was a slight backup on carts and they were still waiting for 2:40 and 2:50 to check in before we could check in. Interesting, but okay.

Grabbed 2 buckets range balls (paid for them) to stall time before we could go. Time goes by, we keep getting told they’re waiting on carts to come back. Ended up leaving the course with a refund for the round (minus the golf now reserv fee) at 3:56 and going to the course around the corner for a 4:20 tee time. The 2:50 group had not teed off (nobody went on the first tee) the whole time we were there.

All in, wasted time and money on range balls for the course to not send us off an hour within our tee time due to poor management & lack of needed carts.

I personally feel bad about leaving such a negative review but golfer beware.

Would never play again. Cart died, took 2 hours for someone to come help… didn’t give a new cart. Instead pushed the cart all the way back(with me in it) with their cart. Finally got back to my round 2.5-3 hours later

Nice little neighborhood course. The layout is great, the upkeep leaves something to be desired. At a 20-25% lower price point it becomes a hidden gem, but they think a bit more of their course and “country club” than its current level

Incredibly frustrating experience. Cart died twice during the round. Tee boxes and cart paths are horrendous. Would not recommend this place.

Ok course - bunkers not maintained - did not like the play at your own risk concept. This course is embedded in a community and you are at risk of hitting someone’s house the course.

I hadn’t played in several years, so it’s under new management and I can tell that they are trying to bring it back to what it used to be, but in the meantime, I felt like the price was a little expensive considering that they’re still a working in progress
