Lakes Golf Course at Laura Walker State Park
About
Situated at the northern edge of the Okefenokee Swamp, the Lakes Golf Course at Laura S. Walker State Park is home to an abundance of native plants and wildlife including alligators, gopher tortoises, and blue herons. True to its name, the course has three large lakes and the layout is routed through numerous varieties of oak trees and palmettos. The course is as challenging as it is scenic with heavily undulating greens, water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. There is also subtle but tricky, links-style mounding defining each of the fairways and landing areas. The course strikes a nice balance of player-friendly and difficult holes but be prepared for the final holes on both the front and back nine, they are considered the toughest on the golf course.

Great time.
The course was in awesome shape. There were a few greens that had a few rough spots but that’s to be expected coming into dormancy. The tee boxes were cut nice and the bunkers were o so fluffy. I’ve played here a few times and they have made great changes in the last year. The pace of play is good and it’s an easy but challenging course at the same time.
Okeefenokee
3rd time here.last was feb total improvement.perfect condtions.starter nice.shop nice.tractor greens man.doing circles around telling me hit ball son.not appreciated...son.but what a day with wife.beautiful course
great golf
This was the third time I've played this course and once again it did not disappoint. The course is laid out very well and bunkers, both sand and waste are placed to make you think about your shot. Greens are consistence and require a keen eye to read, fairways have some ululation but nothing extreme. If you want to play a course that you'll need all of your clubs, play this one.
1st time in a long time!
Very nice course, several challenges for average golfer, green speeds were variable but good, overall the course was very well maintained !
Will definitely back and recommend without a doubt!
Windy Friday on the course
This course is located in a remote area next to a WMA. The state park has a lake and camping that all can enjoy. For me, I took a day to play golf. First of all the price is great! I spent $20 and enjoyed 18 holes off fun. Second, the course is very well maintained. It’s challenging with water and woods all around most of the holes. The fair ways are pretty wide so you can feel pretty confident to hit one or two. The holes are pretty long in some spots and others require you to make sure you pick the right side of the fair way or your approach shot will be a bust. The greens are quick but not fast. Especially for south East Georgia greens. My favorite part is the slopes on the greens can be very steep at times so you better hit the right level or you might be 3 putting. Friendly staff and range balls are only $5 for a large bucket. Great buy will go back even though it’s a bit of a drive from my home in Brunswick, GA.
Great course
Course was in great shape. Best in the times I've played it. Snackbar closed (as always it seems). Pro shop is a little spendy but well stocked.
What a difference
Played here in January and it was ok but they have hired a new greens keeper and now what a big change.Course was in the best shape I have ever seen. From excellent greens to new sand in the bunkers everything was what you would expect to see on a high priced course but the greens fee are very reasonable.Loved it and I will definitely be back.
Great course good challenge
I have played this course several times and score better on it than any other courses in the area. Recommend you play it.
Great value
Course in great condition and the staff was awesome. Worth the hour drive I took from Brunswick.
Bang for the buck
You can’t beat it. Hot deal on a Friday morning $20 after fees. I’ve played courses for $60 not as nice. Very well taken care of. Love this place

Mr.
Today’s play at Laura S. Walker was awesome. Friendly staff from the club house to the green keepers. Clubhouse staff was expecting us, greeted the group by name that was on the reservation with a smile and body language that really made us feel welcome. Clubhouse staff also explained areas to be cautious around due to rain the night before, talked about how the course was playing. When the group was out playing the course, green keeper respected our play by shutting off or idling down their equipment. The course was immaculate from the tee box to the greens. The ruff was nicely maintained, sand in traps was soft and raked, just beautiful! We shall return soon.... Diesel! Playing from the tips!
Course is in sweet shape
Tee boxes are very lush..
Fairways are really nice
Rough has been cut down which helped a lot...thick rough would be a nightmare!!
Bunkers, with rakes are sweet...but, looks like they are letting their waste areas grow back in.
Greens are in sweet shape.
Great time for a South Georgia get-a-way!!
.
Course is in very good condition.
They have done a lot of work on the course. Sand bunkers have been redone and are in excellent condition. Greens are in good shape too! Fairways are also in good shape. It will test your skills and is fun to play. With golfnow you can play for less than $20. Recommend this course.
