Lakes Golf Course at Laura Walker State Park
About
Situated at the northern edge of the Okefenokee Swamp, the Lakes Golf Course at Laura S. Walker State Park is home to an abundance of native plants and wildlife including alligators, gopher tortoises, and blue herons. True to its name, the course has three large lakes and the layout is routed through numerous varieties of oak trees and palmettos. The course is as challenging as it is scenic with heavily undulating greens, water hazards, and strategically placed bunkers. There is also subtle but tricky, links-style mounding defining each of the fairways and landing areas. The course strikes a nice balance of player-friendly and difficult holes but be prepared for the final holes on both the front and back nine, they are considered the toughest on the golf course.

good time
Enjoyed this round of golf very much. Pace of play was great, course in good condition. There were a couple of rough spots, but all in all in good condition. Look forward to going there again.
Nice layout
Driving range was closed. It was cart path only & rightly so, we had a lot of rain. It was very playable & we had a great time, we’ll be back soon.
Great Greens
The greens are smooth and roll true. The only drawback to the conditions are the dormant conditions, which is not a fault of the course, but a factor. The greens are some of the best in the entire region.
Fun course
This course is always fun and is in good shape for the time of year. Greens are a little bumpy but to be expected with colder weather. Back nine slowed down some but other than that, good pace of play.
Nice course
Course is in great shape for this time of year and pace of play was excellent until we go to 14---not sure what happened but it was terrible. Lady in Pro shop was not very friendly and they seem to not like "golf now" folks....even if the course is not busy and backed up at the first tee they won't let you out early if you're a golf now purchaser....they seem to want to penalize you for buying a cheaper rate by not letting you our early even when they're not busy......makes one think they should stop participating in the discounted rates if they're going to treat golf now purchasers like second class golfers.
Great time.
The course was in awesome shape. There were a few greens that had a few rough spots but that’s to be expected coming into dormancy. The tee boxes were cut nice and the bunkers were o so fluffy. I’ve played here a few times and they have made great changes in the last year. The pace of play is good and it’s an easy but challenging course at the same time.
Okeefenokee
3rd time here.last was feb total improvement.perfect condtions.starter nice.shop nice.tractor greens man.doing circles around telling me hit ball son.not appreciated...son.but what a day with wife.beautiful course
great golf
This was the third time I've played this course and once again it did not disappoint. The course is laid out very well and bunkers, both sand and waste are placed to make you think about your shot. Greens are consistence and require a keen eye to read, fairways have some ululation but nothing extreme. If you want to play a course that you'll need all of your clubs, play this one.
1st time in a long time!
Very nice course, several challenges for average golfer, green speeds were variable but good, overall the course was very well maintained !
Will definitely back and recommend without a doubt!
Windy Friday on the course
This course is located in a remote area next to a WMA. The state park has a lake and camping that all can enjoy. For me, I took a day to play golf. First of all the price is great! I spent $20 and enjoyed 18 holes off fun. Second, the course is very well maintained. It’s challenging with water and woods all around most of the holes. The fair ways are pretty wide so you can feel pretty confident to hit one or two. The holes are pretty long in some spots and others require you to make sure you pick the right side of the fair way or your approach shot will be a bust. The greens are quick but not fast. Especially for south East Georgia greens. My favorite part is the slopes on the greens can be very steep at times so you better hit the right level or you might be 3 putting. Friendly staff and range balls are only $5 for a large bucket. Great buy will go back even though it’s a bit of a drive from my home in Brunswick, GA.
Great course
Course was in great shape. Best in the times I've played it. Snackbar closed (as always it seems). Pro shop is a little spendy but well stocked.
What a difference
Played here in January and it was ok but they have hired a new greens keeper and now what a big change.Course was in the best shape I have ever seen. From excellent greens to new sand in the bunkers everything was what you would expect to see on a high priced course but the greens fee are very reasonable.Loved it and I will definitely be back.
Great course good challenge
I have played this course several times and score better on it than any other courses in the area. Recommend you play it.
