Crane's Landing at the Lincolnshire Marriott Resort
About
Crane's Landing Golf Club is the centerpiece of Lincolnshire Marriott Resort. Designed by George Fazio, the course winds across 110 acres of preserved woodlands. It is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary that offers stunning views of the Des Plaines River nearby. At just over 6,300 yards, the golf course is not particularly lengthy but it still offers some formidable challenges. Water is a prominent feature of the course with ponds and a winding river coming into play on 12 holes. The greens are small and raised and the sculpted fairways are tightly lined with mature trees, demanding accuracy off the tee. Crane's Landing Golf Club's back nine is especially difficult thanks to the river, which runs along the entire left side of the 13th hole and also appears on no. 17, the course's longest hole.

Worst experience ever
Teed off at 10:45 am. Sprinklers were on. No warning from staff.
Course was i.errible condition. Only one hole did not have sprinklers on. Could not go on green without getting drenched.
Got harassed by someone in another group outside the clubhouse because I was wearing a Packer hat
.
Course refused a refund instead offered a rain check. I turned down the raincheck because I would never come back
.
Horrible conditions
I wish the starter had told us that the course hadn’t been watered in weeks due to the courses irrigation issues. The tee box, fairways, and greens were unimaginable Everything was beyond brown. The fairways looked like a war zone.
The greens were so dry I was able to pull up with my fingers the hole plug that was put in a previous pin placement. There was about an inch of daylight that circled the plug and its relationship to the green. Looked like someone dropped a can of soup in a hole.
Very bad taste in my mouth.
Just telling it like it was.
NEEDS HELP!!
I was very disappointed after arriving at Cranes Landing to see the course in such poor state. For the amount of rain the area has had lately, everything looks unattended too.
The greens, fairways and tee boxes are in poor shape and in need of some water and tender loving care.
It's like the Resort has no money to spend on the course which is sad, since this course was highly rated back in the day.
Since Covid, the Bar/Restaurant has been closed, but they do have a glass cooler with limited beverages and snacks.
One positive note on my visit is the staff! Very polite, professional and attentive to requests.
If your just learning to play golf this is your course! Others take notice and stay away!
I remember playing this course when it was way nicer. Sad to see all the grass dying.
Course is a disaster
This course needs a complete make over, do not waste your money here . All greens are torn up, fairways animals have completely destroyed. They have not watered all year. Leaves everywhere. Just a disaster place . STAY AWAY
Needs Repair
The course needs a lot of repair. There was a fair amount of ground under repair. Don't think they water the course. Very dry grass and fairways like concrete. Greens are hard and the condition of the grass is terrible, creating very inconsistent speed. There are better course in the area for the same value.
Horrible conditions
Not worth the money you are going to spend playing this place. The greens are burnt out minefields that are harder than the cart path. No shots hit onto the green hold, everything runs through. Bring a hammer to get your tees into the tee boxes. Have fun putting over obvious raised replacement slugs from old pin placements, and dirt patches surrounding the hole.
Was in much better condition earlier in the season
The track is short. Good for a beginner. I took my 13 year old.
Almost a 5 hour round on a Sunday morning.
Course needs a lot of water and attention. A lot of ground under repair.
Poor greens
Greens needed to be cut, no one but us were repairing divots. No beverage cart and water jugs empty on a 90 degree day.
Awful
Let me first say that I am a Marriott Titanium member, and love the hotels and in general their services. This property has slipped dramatically, and will no longer receive my business, especially not for golf. The amenities are minimal, and the service is sub-par to be generous. After waiting 15 minutes on two of the first four holes on the tee box, I requested a refund, which was denied by the Ranger/Manager.. whoever he was .. and who seemed to believe that the fact I was complaining about the ridiculous delay was actually my issue. After a not-too-nice exchange, I decided to go into the Hotel to discuss with Management, as I would want my customers to do in my business. If you can imagine this... I was accosted by this golf Manager's brother as I left, who I'm pretty sure wasn't paying for his golf... like I did. Of course the GM wasn't available, and I was asked to email my issues to the local Front Office Manager, who was actually very accommodating - even if the computers in the Hotel - available to guests - weren't working. No response of course.. which was extremely disappointing, as I have to stay over 75 nights a year at Marriott's to attain my membership level. Do the math, it's a pretty significant spend. I haven't stayed at a Marriott since, and no one at my company will either. Expecting to be treated nicely is not a big ask... and expecting the golf to be reasonable is not either. This course is not up to the standard that I have experienced at Marriott courses, and I will not return. The entire experience at the Marriott Lincolnshire "Resort" was disappointing, to be nice. Look elsewhere for golf, where they monitor the speed of play, and as for accommodations, you can do way better at the local Courtyard...
