About
Maui's Ka'anapali Resort is built upon 1,200 acres of land home to ancient Hawaiian royalty and is home to two 18-hole championship golf courses. The Royal Ka'anapali course was built in 1962 and designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., who created undulating greens and wide fairways to accent views of the Pacific Ocean and West Maui Mountains. This championship challenge has played host to such events as the Champions TOUR Ka'anapali Classic for 14 years, LPGA Kemper Cup and Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, and such legends as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Jan Stephanson and Betsy King have competed here. Guests of the Ka'anapali Resort receive discounts on green fees at both Royal Ka'anapali and newer Ka'anapali Kai, which was extensively renovated in 2005.

Fun course with Amazing Views
Was a fun day. Spacious landing areas off the tee but very well protected greens with lots of elevation and serious bunkers everywhere. Conditions were great.
Could see the ocean from just about every shot.
No liquor licence so no beer on the beverage cart which was unfortunate on a hot vacation day. Staff were very nice and helpful.
Pricey but with Golfnow tee time was very reasonable compared to Kapalua. Would recommend and will play again for sure.

Great course
I golfed for the third time. Greens for fast . Stay below the hole if you don’t want to three put. Everything rolls towards the ocean even on the fairways.

Beautiful day at Royal Ka'anapali
Golf Course is always beautiful, fun to play and I can usually get around in 3.5 - 4 hours. Beautiful scenery on Hole Nos. 1-6 and 16-18. The views from the hills on the other side of the Highway aren't bad either. Golf course is very fair, the staff is great, pro-shop is great and the cart guys are awesome. Should be when you pay their rates; look for Golf Now Hot deals!

Nice course with great views
Had a great day at a good pace. We finished the round under 4 hours. We were surprised when the cart lady showed up and told us they do not have a liquor license and therefore no alcohol. Certainly not the end of the world and probably allowed us to shot a little lower. :-)

Tough course
Beautiful course but seems you are going uphill all the time! Very windy the day we played that affected every shot, even the putting! Greens just been sanded but were nice. Fairway very nice but a bit long and slow and the roughs were very thick and fluffy so very hard to get distance out of there.

Top Notch course!
We played at 2pm and the course was virtually empty which was phenomenal. There was a brisk breeze and the surrounding lushness and beauty of the mountains, palm trees and overall aesthetics of the course were sensational. Would definitely recommend. Book your tee time. You won’t be disappointed.

Awesome day
First time playing the royal course. Price on tee off was great. We ended up going out 40 mins early, no one in front of us. According to GPS finished 80 mins ahead of pace of play. We had a threesome right behind us. They weren't pushing us, but present after 5 holes. Missed the signs for hole 7, across the bridge and freeway so we lost time !
Mostly uphill greens, got pretty breezy towards the end but still a great day.

Not worth the money
I have played here a few times and really like the layout of the course. Today was a huge disappointment. We hade a 12:30 tee time and when we arrived we found out that there was a shotgun tournament that started right in front of us.
Needless to say, the round took 5 hours to complete and we waited on virtually every hole. To make things worse, the greens were punched a couple weeks prior and had not recovered.
I understand that outside events and maintenance are necessary, but had I known either of these I would have chose to spend my $300 elsewhere.
It would have been even more had it been before 12:00.
Generally this is a fun course to play, just not today
Greens just punched
Excellent course and layout. Staff was great and warned me about the greens just being punched. They gave us from free range balls and bottled water.
The course was in great shape except for the greens.
I play it every time I come to the Marriott across the street and will continue. Highly recommended but will just take a two putt or better if we come a week after the greens are punched.
