About
Maui's Ka'anapali Resort is built upon 1,200 acres of land home to ancient Hawaiian royalty and is home to two 18-hole championship golf courses. The Royal Ka'anapali course was built in 1962 and designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., who created undulating greens and wide fairways to accent views of the Pacific Ocean and West Maui Mountains. This championship challenge has played host to such events as the Champions TOUR Ka'anapali Classic for 14 years, LPGA Kemper Cup and Shell's Wonderful World of Golf, and such legends as Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Chi Chi Rodriguez, Jan Stephanson and Betsy King have competed here. Guests of the Ka'anapali Resort receive discounts on green fees at both Royal Ka'anapali and newer Ka'anapali Kai, which was extensively renovated in 2005.

Absolutely Beautiful
It was my first time playing golf on Maui and I had an amazing time. I was paired with 2 other visitors to the island. One gentleman had played there a few days prior. From the beginning, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The course was outstanding. We didn't have a pace of play problem. We teed off at 130pm and finished at 4PM.

11:50 t-time behind 2 groups with 4 carts.
Crazy that they let all these folks off together. At least 5 golfers each group. Different players on some holes. Starter told us to relax and take our time. I asked how many golfers per group. He lied and said 4.

Fun course
Had not played this in 38 years, but was very enjoyable, winds were not too bad, but wee in opposite direction from normal so long holes played into the wind. Greens were not lightning fast but were consistent, fairways in great shape

Challenging, beautiful course
The best course I've ever played. Staff was welcoming and friendly. Tee box to the greens were pristine. Grounds crews were friendly and respectful.

This is my go to course in Maui. They take great care to insure you have the best experience. Both course are immaculate condition. I’ll be back again next year.

Pretty course.
Fun course. Very nice scenery. Make sure you buy alcoholic drinks before you start your round at their food/drink store before you start your round. We were disappointed when the cart person on the course with drinks/snacks informed us they didn’t carry any alcohol on the their cart.

The course was in good condition. The only issue was the wind blowing 20 miles per hour.

Mehhhhh
I've played both courses several times. They are overpriced, underwhelming and on the low end of resort standard condition. Conditions have improved since Troon has taken over. But it's still not a golf experience to get excited about, especially if you are paying thier rack rate.

Nice Course
A very nice layout, but the greens are still very bumpy from aeration. Wind was a challenge up in the hills.
