Ka'anapali Kai

About
The Ka'anapali Resort on Maui is home to two championship golf courses, set on 1,200 acres of land home to ancient Hawaiian royalty. The Ka'anapali Kai course is an Arthur Jack Snyder design from 1976 that received an extensive renovation in 2005. The golf course is shorter and has a lower slope/rating compared to its sister Royal Ka'anapali course, but also plays narrower in most spots. Many holes are tucked into the West Maui Mountains The golf course is women-friendly with a forward set of "Hibiscus" tees at 4,522 yards, and also less expensive to resort guests and visitors compared to Royal Ka'anapali, which has played host to numerous professional events.

Very forgiving
Good course for a 15 HC
I’m 65 and could reach most par 4s in two shots
Way easier than Royal
Sand traps need some work, more sand!
Great course and Staff!
Had a great time, beautiful course and super-friendly and helpful staff! Only issue was a foursome in front of us who were ridiculously slow, the Marshall pushed them as best as he could so that helped. Would play there again in a heartbeat!
Terrible
Greens were terrible, lots of sand on greens. Should have received a discount.
Not Resort Style Golf
I have played here whenever I've come to Maui, but I will not play it again. No food until 12:00. Lost their liquor license. No cart person. I called after hole 9 to see if I could get a half refund since it was such a terrible golf experience and the front-desk person was very rude (and they didn't refund me half - was definitely a longshot, so not docking them points for that).
It's expensive but doesn't provide the amenities one would expect from a Hawaiian golf experience. Although a bit more expensive, just go up the road to Kapalua. It's the type of golf experience you would expect on vacation.
No Alcohol
Was shocked that I couldn’t enjoy a beer while playing.
Nothing but beer.
For some reason your course, and several others no longer allow anything other than beer on the golf course my wife rides along with me and she enjoys a cocktail or two. But with your new restrictions. She was very disappointed. You know the saying happy wife, happy life. Whatever the problem is, you guys should take care of it. People should be able to enjoy a cocktail or two while playing golf. Other than that course condition was excellent. Pace of play was great. We even played the King course. It had just been reopened after aeration. Still, it was a great wonderful course. The views are spectacular. Thank you.
Location location...otherwise not worth it
Location location location.....smack in the middle of Kaanapali..... paid 113 for twilight and will not do it again. condition not better than most muni courses in California at 1/3 or the price. Kai course really does not have ocean view. For the price, only portapotty available on the course (unacceptable), no water stations. saw the food cart ONCE during the 18 holes... rather drive out to other courses to play
Happy to play this one again
Yesterday was the third time I have played this course and I will not hesitate to play it on my next visit to Kaanapali.
The course condition is excellent, although a little more sand in the bunkers would be great!
The greens are fast so be ready to have some longer than anticipated 2nd putts.
The two things I would suggest could be improved are: 1. Practice range is very limited and I just don’t like having to use mats and 2. There is a small and well hidden putting green that could be better signposted as it not seen until you are not n your way to the 1st tee.
