Pukalani Country Club
About
Pukalani Country Club has a unique location at the 1,100-foot elevation of the famous Mount Haleakala, an extinct volcano whose name means “House of the Rising Sun.” The dramatic elevation offers breathtaking views that span the West Maui Mountains to the Pacific Ocean. The golf course features wide, undulating fairways and fast, sloped greens. The gently rolling terrain can cause some tricky uneven lies. There are trees and well placed bunkers scattered throughout to provide further challenge. Pukalani Country Club has a unique feature on the par-3 third hole. The hole gives golfers the options of hitting to one of two very different greens, one which requires a tee shot over a tree-filled gully and another that requires a shot beyond a cliff to a pal tree-lined green.

Inexpensive, but comes at a cost
I called ahead to be sure they had youth rental clubs and they assured me they did. Once I arrived they said they do not have youth club rentals but managed to find a bag with two really tall 9 irons, one 7 iron, one 6 iron, and a tiny wedge putter - no woods. My 8 year old was able to use 3 of the clubs to play the entire course. We drove more than an hour to golf at Pukalani as they were one of two courses that accepted the Youth on Course membership and this was a pretty big deal and greatly impacted our enjoyment of the day. We started at 3:30pm and a little before 6pm the flags started disappearing. We were not told a time we needed to be back at the clubhouse so we were surprised the flags were missing. The group in front of us doubled back to tell us they were told they could only play to hole 12 and then needed to head to the clubhouse. My son and I (with his three rental clubs) had to wait at numerous holes for the group(s) in front of us which was no big deal and happens when you're only a group of two, but it became a bummer once told by fellow golfers we could not finish our round. We doubled back after finishing hole 11 and then waited in a line of golfers at the 18th hole as the multiple groups told they needed to end their rounds early tried to play the final hole. If we are supposed to be back early we should have been told ahead of time and asked to only play 9. After driving an hour to play the course and then learning they did not have youth clubs as promised, it was quite disappointing to not even be allowed to finish the course. I paid full price, maybe this is why the course is less expensive, because they do not intend to allow you to finish.
Gem of the island
We arrived at the course and were blown away by the stunning views of the volcano across the valley. The course layout was challenging and fun to play. As always, there were chickens and roosters guarding the greens.
The greens play fast, the winds affected our tee shots and putts. We experienced no par holes, and bogeyed
Every hole. But fun.
The staff was outstanding making us feel like members even thought it was our first time.
Pukalani is a great place to play golf on Maui. You will not only save money here, but enjoy the views on every hole.
Go to course!
My new go to, fun to play and a good test. Heads up if u want to hit balls b4, dispenser only takes dollars. Played it three times in last month and really enjoyed the on course feel. Good conditions overall. Some tees were worn and a few bunkers need more sand or at least a raking to prepare for play. Will be back!
Great Value
Course was in very nice condition and the staff was super friendly. I played this course three times and enjoyed every round.
nice course worth the drive up to pukulani
this course was in great condition, particularly the greens. ( possibly helped by the higher rainfall in the area.)
the staff were friendly and welcoming. the gas golf cars were in good clean condition although took a little getting used to compared to electric ones.
we always play this course several times when on maui as we feel more like members than tourists here.
Nice track.
Great value, great turf, great layout. What else can I say
Aloha
Very interesting course layout and outstanding value. Employees couldn’t be any nicer. Will play again.
upcountry course in great condition
We regularly visit Maui and always enjoy driving upcountry to play Pukulani.. The staff are friendly and the course is presented in great condition. ( Particularly, the quality of the greens.).
Always fun golf
Sunny, windy, beautiful view golf.
Just go to have fun and relax.
Challenging, grainy greens for long putts.
Uphill holes into the wind.
Yep good luck
Bogeys are my friend.
Over 70 yrs old with limited expectations.
Cheers
Greens were awesome
Greens great
Fairways a little slow no roll
Windy
No Marshall
4 Yong Men in front of us
Weed smoking multiple mulligans
Clueless as to pace of play.
One of the most beautiful courses on Maui and it’s such a value don’t miss it
Must play awesome course wonderful layout best value on Maui
Improved Greens @Pukalani!
Everyone should know that the steady improvements at Pukalani are continuing. The greens keepers have recently succeeded in speeding up the greens to a very good speed, and they’re rolling true. They were formerly the slowest of any course I’ve played on Maui – like Velcro. So big kudos to Ron Huffman (GM), and the greens staff! Overall, Pukalani CC is in fantastic shape!
Maui Nui would do well to learn from Pikalani’s great progress over the past several years, and start improving their neglected course, which has become an overpriced GOAT Track!
