Tamarack Golf Club

Good: Flat layout, easy for walkers. Plenty of water hazards. Fairways/greens in good condition. Some winter debris still lingers, but playable. Management responded after my last suggestion to clean the greens. Thank you!

Need some work: Some sand bunkers still have mud,. Hopefully they will be fixed by spring.

Good: Easy course for seniors to walk. Fairways are in very good condition.

Need attention: Greens need some cleaning (understand it is winter, but as long as the course is open, pls clean the greens). A few bunkers need some maintenance.

Tamarack is a fun course with good length and nice greens

It’s normally a good value on golf now and pace of play is normally good. I play here about 5 times a year because they are one of the 1 st courses to open and last to close.

If it were closer to my house I would play it more often

The course is not usually very busy and generally has a good pace of play. The staff is really friendly and the course conditions are about average. Could use more and better facilities/infrastructure but it is a great course for the price.

80° day in October so it was crowded as expected. However, the pace of play was remarkably pretty good. End of season and the course had just been aerated. But in pretty good condition considering. The bunkers, however, was another story. Looked like many were under reconstruction. Several of them didn’t even have sand in them. I would definitely play here again.

It rained in the morning, the course had some puddles, and it was wet at the start. However, the course seemed to be drying out. It was cart path only, so I chose to walk. However, I saw people in carts ignoring that directive. I played as a single in 3 hrs. I wasn't able to catch the twosome in a cart in front of me, and the single in the cart behind me never got close enough, although I would have let him play through. There was evidence of many trees on the course being removed.

This year has been a great year to play Tamarack!

They are under new management and are really getting the bunkers in much better condition. Self braking carts are awesome! Staff is very courteous and check in is easy. The only confusing part is they closed the old Proshop and combined it with the bar and grill area. But for the money, out in the western suburbs, this has been an excellent value every time we’ve played there this year (half a dozen) and we hope that this continues!

Really nice layout. Green was in great shape. Pace was really good.

Would have been cheaper at the course than what I paid on golfnow

Played two guys that were soooo slow. Hit multiple tee shots from the tips that went 50 yards. Would park the cart on the path then go walking around in the ruff and fairway. Obviously didn’t let us through. Back nine was 3 hours with 15 minute waiting on every tee.

The layout is great. Challenging with water on most holes. Surprised that the fairways and greens were in good shape. Some of the tee boxes need some work. Bunkers need some major overhaul. Overall the course is decent. Will play again

The overall course was fine, but I was very upset about a couple of things.

1) The signs for each hole told you the hole number and the par. No where did it mention the yardage or have a picture of the layout of the hole (fairway/bunkers/water, etc). On some holes you literally had no idea if there was a dog-leg, water or bunkers unless you’ve previously played here.

2) There were no signs/indications on which way to drive to the next hole. I think we had to turn around 3 times because we drove to the 11th hole instead of the 5th hole. They only had faded arrows on the ground to “point” You in the right direction, but didn’t have any markings when you’d come to a fork in the road.

3) 95% of the sand traps we saw were littered with huge rocks. The other 5% of the traps looked completely dried up and was like hitting off dried up dirt.

I’ll personally never make the hour long drive to play here again.
