Tamarack Golf Club
About
Tamarack Golf Club is a course that will test your shot-making skills yet it is still player-friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. Pete Dye designed the course with tight, sculpted fairways and undulating greens that come in a range of sizes. The layout offers plenty of challenges with water or sand coming into play on every hole. The golf course will test your accuracy but it is not as difficult as many other Dye designs. The third is one of the toughest holes. A severely undulating green protected by deep bunkers makes placement vitally important on this par 3. The 15th is one of the back nine's more challenging holes. It presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity with a myriad of teeing options. Water lines the entire right side and the two-tiered green is flanked with bunkers to the front and right.

Mixed Review
Tamarack has a lot going for it.
The staff is welcoming and friendly, both in the pro shop and restaurant.
The greens are in great shape. Consistent speeds and rolling well.
The tees were in good shape and the fairways were running firm and fast.
The layout is good. Challenging with many changes of directions and water hazards in play.
Again, a lot of good.
Unfortunately, that positive is met by a significant drawback - the condition of the bunkers. They are in dreadful shape. The liner, which is typically beneath the sand, can be seen on many of the traps. Most have been ground down to either a thin layer of sand or dirt from which golfers are asked to play. My friend and I actually debated taking relief from the sand, if we hit into them. Conditions were just that bad. Some of the bunkers, and a few of the tees, have been allowed to grow out, which would be fine if they had been filled with dirt and grass seed. Unfortunately, it looks like they’ve just been let go. Several were just overtaken by weeds. The reason all this is troubling is that there are a lot of sand traps at Tamarack and the conditions used to be much better.
Again, there’s a lot of positive at Tamarack. Just be warned that until an investment is made in renovating the bunkers, there will be a trade off in the sand.
Great escape but needs a little refinement
Great course layout and challenging to be accurate. The rough could of been cut lower for the holiday. Much wasted time for people looking for balls. I had a group playing as a six person group really holding up the rest behind them. Despite, I enjoyed the course again.
Heard this place used to be nice
For the price, not even close to worth it. No sand in any of the bunkers and just in general looks run down.
Staff is horrible
I booked a pre payed tee time. It was for 18 holes with a CART! I Showed up to the course and was told there was no carts because the course was wet. Not Cart path only or 90 degree even? I asked if there was any pull carts available they told me no. Then when I told the staff that I paid for a cart and that I needed a refund if it was walking only. I was told it’s the same price to walk as it is to ride. I’ve played golf for over 25 years on multiple courses I’ve never been told it’s the same price to walk as it is to ride. Also I brought my dad with a heart condition with hopes of getting out to play. The course could at least contacted me and let me know it was walking only. They wonder why this place gets bad reviews they treat there golfers like trash
Bunkers
All the bunkers needed a lot of work!
No sand in any of them just dirt and mud
Saturated and bad drainage
Was very dissapointed for the cost and the condition of the course. Very poor drainage and sand bunkers are not edged and look incredibly under maintained. Did not enjoy this course. I have golfed here in the past put for how much you pay it is not worth the money.
Most of the course was in good shape. Some pretty big rocks in the bunkers. Overall it was good.
Better Golf Courses I have played
The golf course was challenging and great for us and all of us have njoyed playing
Fix Your Bunkers
The amount and size of rocks in bunkers was quite embarrassing. This course used to have a lot of value and just looking at your bunkers, you can tell why it was under $40. Been awhile since I played here and will remain that way with these course conditions
SLOW and bad sand traps
Decided to stop the round when we reached four hours and completed 12 holes. No starter or marshall to manage the flow. I am not a low handicapper but there were alot of novices on the course so a marshall to keep things going would have helped. Sand traps are still a mess to the point that we took the ball out of them rather than trying to play out of them. I really want to like this course but lots more work needs to be done.
Sad...
Spend your money elsewhere.
It appears there are no sprinklers or sand trap maintenance, as the fairways and greens are rock hard (literally there are boulders in the traps). You have dirt or weed-like rough lies, and as challenging as this place is, the lack of care has made it worse. I can only assume the Arcis membership has beat this course down, and the management has not reinvested the money into course conditions.
This course was a go-to the past few years due to the value, but at 55 on a Sunday there are tons of other nearby courses (Naperbrook, Springbrook) well worth the few extra bucks. I won’t be coming back this year.
Course is not well maintained
What was once a very well regarded golf course has fallen in to disrepair. The sand traps have not been maintained at all. There are no starters or marshalls on the course to ensure that players move along at a good pace. We had a foursome hitting into us all day long.
