Tamarack Golf Club
About
Tamarack Golf Club is a course that will test your shot-making skills yet it is still player-friendly enough to appeal to all skill levels. Pete Dye designed the course with tight, sculpted fairways and undulating greens that come in a range of sizes. The layout offers plenty of challenges with water or sand coming into play on every hole. The golf course will test your accuracy but it is not as difficult as many other Dye designs. The third is one of the toughest holes. A severely undulating green protected by deep bunkers makes placement vitally important on this par 3. The 15th is one of the back nine's more challenging holes. It presents an interesting risk-reward opportunity with a myriad of teeing options. Water lines the entire right side and the two-tiered green is flanked with bunkers to the front and right.

This I just one of the holes I believe 17 Photo submitted by fid12602 on 09/18/2013
Even though it was too cold, the course multiplied that negative factor.
The course is straight forward; what you see is what it is. No hidden trouble or unfair slopes, etc.. Your good shots are rewarded and simultaneously challenged by the next shot's requirement to be accurately place and positioned. The greens are inviting to good approach shots and challenging if that approach ends up too far from the pin. This course is a pleasurable golf experience on a good golf day.
good course with good price
course very well kept, course is very challanging and the price is very very good 67% cheaper than normal fee
Good Track
I played this on 10/29....it was cold but the course was in EXCELLENT shape. Very true greens with so much roll I 3 putted an otherwise great round into an 89. From the back tees it was fun and long (7k yards) if you have a good drive that is straight. I give it 5 stars for the CURRENT condition and taking into account this is Fall golf. I have played 20 rounds in the last 2 months and thought the shape of this course (although laid out completely different) to be in better turf shape than Cantigny....which is my favorite course.
Great value
Excellent value for location, you don't see many course in/around Naperville for the price. Course is fun, starts off with a couple of easier holes but increases the difficulty as you move along.
This course is challenging
This is a great course to play. I have played it many times. The only problem this time was that due to Mother Natures heavy rains on Tuesday there were no carts allowed on the fairways. This issue made for a long day and a lot of walking but as I have told family and friends a bad day at golf is still a GREAT DAY.
Summary: Very disappointing, I will not return
Pro Shop: Rude, non-informative, and busy (with phone conversations).
Design: Long, challenging, water and fairway bunkers in abundance, high quality undulating greens, pin placements unreasonable for a public course.
Facility: Old, run down and poorly maintained.
Other: No starter, no hole-to-hole signage, cart paths in disrepair, carts were filthy, tee box condition deplorable, fairways in poor condition, hole water coolers were dry/rusted!
Chicago Guy
I remember playing this course years ago, always in great shape, a difficult course with lots of water. Some cool holes. It appears the course has not been taken care of and is no longer enjoyable to play. I played it twice this year, might be the last time even though i got a killer deal on golfnow.
Fun to play, but I rate it average because of the condition.
The layout of the course is good, and it is fun to play, but the condition needs improvement. Some fairways have bare spots and need to be seeded or sodded. However, I must say the greens are very good, and the ball rolls true.
Demanding off the tees.
I like playing Tamarack as it's a good deal for the money, usually in great condition. My only negative experience is that they don't control the pace of play. Sometimes, a round can take way too long. I'd suggest they need experienced and polite rangers (what course doesn't, right?).
The staff is always very courteous and make you feel welcomed.
Nice course. Bring lots of balls.
This is a good course to play , But you need to be aware of hazzards that are not always visible from the tee box. Don't expect a good score the first time out. After that you should have a great time , Especially if you bring a bragging friend that's never played there.
Great Challenging Course,
Great Local Course, Challenging Fairways, Well Mantained Greens. Relaxed Play not rushed.
Pro Shop staff courteous, fairways in good conditions, greens in very good conditions.
Course is challenging with water coming into play on several holes. Shots have to be precise on a number of holes if one is going after birdies. Overall, a nice course, but no holes that are really memorable.
Very slow play
The greens and fairways were in decent condition. The greens are fairly fast and undulated - not easy. Lots of water. Tees were not in good condition. Staff not terribly friendly. No marshalls so pace of play was painfully slow.
Great Course.......Great Price
It's not often when you can find a course that is an outstanding value and a pleasure to play. Tamarac is my go to course from now on.
Relatively Challenging
This course has some narrow fairways and many hazards to be cognizant of when playing. There are well established trees, many sand bunkers and a reasonable amount of water. The greens are in good condition and appear to be less prone to slopes so it can make for a solid putting game. The course is situated in an established subdivision which leads to the narrow fairways. I found it easy to get on and through with less traffic in the early morning or late afternoons. No driving range but nice putting practice areas.
Challenging course - not always fair.
Nice design with a level of easy to very difficult holes for the average golfer. Water hazards come into play on more than half the holes and on some, even a hit in the center of the fairway can end up in the water due to the slope of the fairway towards the water hazzard. A written map or GPS system with "Pro Tips" would benefit the average golfer. Many holes reward the golfer if you choose shot location over distance.
Great course to play with buddies
This is one of the most rewarding courses out south west suburbs. Every shot forces you to think. Those that are long will definately enjoy the 2nd or 3rd shot into the green.
Keep up the good work and see you next season!
need to play more then once hidden trouble
course bunkers under repair, need gps on carts, not for high handicapers
Challenging Greens
Very nice course. However, some bunkers were under construction. Course has generally held up well given the hot, dry summer conditions. Course layout is more challenging than typical. Green and pin placements are very challenging. Good price for quality and location.
Tamarack as always....
Tamarack is Tamarack ! It's a Great Course. There are holes to challenge everyone ! On my last visit the Greens were Great ! The Fairways were Great and even the Tees were good ! I enjoy playing Tamarack all the time !
