Great Course!
The best course on this side of the Mississippi! Great condition!
awesome
greens EX fringe Ex fairways really nice....pace of play EX
A great course for both skilled and amateur players
I’ve played Lockhaven since I was a young kid. I learned how to play golf here. They have a great driving range and putting green. This course requires strategy and skill, but is also very fun for scramblers and amateurs. We’ve had a dry summer and the course sure could use a little rain, but other than that it’s in the same shape it was 30+ years ago.
Worth the drive
45 minutes drive for me however so glad I made the trip. Challenging course but plays very fair, greens were rolling well. Some dead spots in fairways but it’s July in St Louis so not surprising. Would definitely add to my rotation
Worth the trip
Lockhaven was a great course. People were friendly and the pace of play was excellent.
lockhaven enjoyment
just love this place...greens were gr8.....staff friendly .....fine cigars at reasonable $ ......fairways cut....just had a blast....variety of elevation excellent.....
Good playing course.
Only complaint is golfers not fixing landing marks on greens.
Not so hot a deal.
Round for 2 was puchased on golfnow as a hot deal. Due to flooding hole 1 was virtual. Hole 2 was modified tee box par 3. Green were fast and decently maintained. FairwAys were wide with lots of terrain changes, water and sand minimal. Cart paths were stop and go almost non existent. Lots of clumpy grass in fairways due to rains lots of standing water course took 6 hours to play was not impressed overall
Quick 9 on IL Visit
We went to Alton from STL to ride bikes on the river trail & play golf. Hadn't played Lockhaven since it had reopened so was interested to see it again. Unfortunately, the recent floods have damaged part of #1 fairway & its green & #2 tee boxes. Other than that the course us in great shape. Great layout winding thru the hills & woods with sand, water & other hazards. The Bermuda is coming in good in the fairways & the greens were in very good condition. We only played 9 (the "pro" let us play #10 since #1 was a temp par 3). Really enjoyed it & will return.
Horrible Greens
Sunday morning tee time at 8:10am and NONE of the greens were cut....maybe had not been done in a few days. Dew everywhere...impossible to putt. On top of that the greens were full of weeds; chickweed, crabgrass, etc. I predict this place won't be open within a year.
Great design, slow greens
I enjoyed this course because it was well designed with a solid degree of difficulty. However, I felt the greens could be better cared for. All and all me and my son had a great time. The staff was friendly and helpful.
Lockhaven
Great course tucked back off highway 100 in Godfrey IL. Course layout is great. Conditions were ok with most tee boxes in good shape, some not very good. Large greens that were very slow but in pretty good shape. Fairways are zoysia but not defined versus the rough. Fairways are cut a little longer which I liked because the ball really sits up. The course compares to the feel of Norwood Hills, Normandie, and Glen Echo. Although it is pretty far from University City, I’ll play it again. Great course for the price. The white tees are only 5800 yards while the blue tees are 6400 yards. So a little short from the whites but a little long from the blues for a guy that usually plays about 600 yards.
Will play again. Course mgmt is working to bringing it back up from recent ownership change.
Great layout. Challenging enough for mid to low handicappers. Do NOT trust GolfNow's 'Mapit' link in the confirmation email!! It mapped to a place miles away!!!
