Nice Course
I had played this course a few years ago, in a company golf outing. It is on par with Spencer T. Olin course. The greens were a little slow, but not bad after you adjusted. Open fairways, but there are mature trees along the edges of the fairways. The club house is a little lacking. Staff was friendly and we had no issues during our round. I hope they can keep this open and put more money into the club house. If you have never played Lockhaven, you should!
Good course for the money (discount).
First time we played Lockhaven so it was a bit challenging. Blind shots and such. Keep in mind the course was shut down for a long time and it's getting back in shape. Could be a really nice course just needs some TLC as other reviews have mentioned. You can tell it was nice at one time and hopefully will be again.
Best in the Area for the money
Beautiful Fairways. Greens Perfect Shape...Challenging from the Blues
Glad it's back open
Although it needs some tlc I am sure the staff us busted their butt to just get reopened. The greens were in good shape, the course overall just is going to take time as I'm sure it sat totally unmaintained for a significant time. Will def be back as is one of my favorite layouts around town.
Very nice course greens were a little slow that day staff was very nice
Needs some TLC
Really nice layout. Needs TLC. Many tee boxes were overgrown with weeds or just bare. Rough had not been mowed recently, along with the fairwarys. Grass was kind of high. Greens were also rolling very slow.
This could be a great course but it needs some work.
Not for me
Not sure what happened to this course since we played it a couple of years ago but had to review it to make sure no one makes the same mistake we did. It was overpriced, poor conditions, mis-advertised as being atop the bluffs overlooking the Mississippi River. Maybe if you cut down 1,000 trees you may be able to see the river. Don't waste your time, far better courses within 45 minute drive.
Lockhaven Golf Club
My Son and I, My Golf Buddy, and Several Friends have had the pleasure of being able to play this; once private golf course. To walk into the locker room at Lockhaven Golf Club was to step back in time. To have a chance to show my teenage son what it was like to walk into a country club from a time all but gone was priceless. If you were unable to play this course in the past, I would hope that something happens to breathe new life into Lockhaven. I have played over 60 golf courses and this one is easily in my top five. I would like to thank everyone that was or is associated with Lockhaven Golf Club for allowing me the opportunity to walk and play this course.
A Jewel
Lockhaven in the fall is a steal at any price. The beauty of the trees in autumn makes golf almost secondary. Fantastic course layout. Fantastic greens. Some of best in area. Don't miss it.
BAD CLIENTELE !!!!!!
Being close to Alton this club apparently gets a lower class of knowledgable golfers. Etiquette is not on display here. As everyone of us has done before, I left a club at at a previously played hole. That of course, was my fault. I went back to where I left it and--NO CLUB! I asked the foursome behind us if they had seen it---No they said in unison which I thought was strange, but just thought it would be turned in. Here it is months later and no one turned it in. What kind of a clientele steals a club??!! Who would play an honorable game with these kinds of folks? It's a shame because it is a nice coarse even though it is showing signs of decay. The once splendid tennis courts are cracked, full of weeds and not usable. The swimming pool dressing rooms are in need of repair and better sanitation. The coarse is good to play, but there are others better with a friendlier staff and more honorable clientele.
Service???
I paid for this round on line. The facility was under staffed that day. We were not allowed to use a cart, but no other amenities were offered (a pull cart would have been nice). We had fun but labored to get around the golf course carrying cart bags. The conditions of the good course was tied to the weather conditions but the service seemed to be as well.
Great course for all levels of player
I continue to go back to Lockhaven and play every chance I get. The only thing I don't like about Lockhaven is it is too far from where I live. It's an hour drive and we've been there 5 times this year.
Great course & value
A best kept secret, worth the drive. Course in remarkable shape, given July, greens are great, traps well kept, fairways short but nice. You'll like this track.
Fun Layout
This course gives you a chance to use most of your clubs in your bag. It also offers many different options on the different holes (doglegs in both directions, uphill and downhill looks, etc.).
Great course for the $
This was my first time playing the course and it was in great condition and well kept. I am actually going back this Friday to take some relatives coming in for a family reunion.
great course
Had a great time. Very mature course. A little out of the way but worth the drive.
Not worth the drive...
If you're close, 17$ a round is great for an afternoon tee time, but it definitely wasn't worth the 1:15 we drove.
exciting holes.
Great rates. Challenging holes.the course is in great shape tee to green.out of about 5 courses l play, it's my favorite. Would recommend to anyone.
Exceptional Value and Great Course
Course was in good shape, value great, and facilities in good shape. Will play again!
Worth The a Drive
My husband and I drove 40 miles to play at Lockhaven. Beautiful rolling hills, healthy greens, and a good combination of tight and wide open greens.
The course is working on several holes some more than 300 yards that currently have men and wome teeing off together. Once the improvements are completed the course will be awesome.
