What a steal!
We were looking for a good golf deal on Golfnow so that we could play before the baseball game while visiting in St. Louis. Got a last minute 10/person w/ cart at Lockhaven. Wasn't expecting a whole lot given the price, but after finishing the last putt I can say I would have easily had no problem paying 30-35 for play here.
Wouldn't recommend walking here, very hilly. However, they use the elevation changes nicely. Many holes tee off from a bluff giving you extra distance on drives on longer holes. Bermuda fairways in great condition. Given the elevation changes there are some blind shots, and if you're not in the fairway on those shots it can be difficult to find your ball.
Staff was very friendly. A cart service was offered selling various beverages, and water coolers were placed every other hole. Took advantage of the HUGE locker room after a humid round. Very nice bar with good food to relax afterwards. Also, the drive along the Mississippi to get to the location was pretty cool.
Had a wonderful time
While the clubhouse and the tee boxes need renovating (some tee boxes currently under renovation) , the fairways and greens were in great shape. The course is pleasing to the eye and was fun to play. It wasn't difficult but wasn't easy either. We will definitely be back.
Bad start, great day.
Was raining when we started playing but quit after a couple of holes. Course was wet but playable. Very nice course all around and very friendly atmosphere. Good value and would recommend it.
Beautiful scenery and beautiful setting.
Our foursome enjoyed the course very much. Fairways and greens were in great shape. Employees were very cordial and helpful. I would recommend this to my friends. We intend to play golf course again.
Good course!
Good course! Tee box being repaired, but still worth the money! Going to be good with some work.
The course is currently in great condition
I've played this course 3 times before and didn't care for it because the fairways were not in good condition. Maybe that was because of dry conditions at that time. This time, the fairways, rough, greens, and bunkers were all in great shape. I should know about the bunkers because I was in them often. The greens roll really nice and, for me, can be difficult to read the break. The course has lots of elevation changes and mature tree lined fairways.
Beautiful course
Very challenging course. Signs posted that improvements were being made. Will be nice when completed. Pace of play was good. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Looking forward to playing this course again
Improve pace
We have played this course frequently. It is a beautiful course with lots of beautiful trees. The women's tee boxes need a lot of improvement. Many are just stuck out near the fairway on uneven turf. The biggest problem on the day we played was pace of play. We had a 2:20 tee time and the 1st tee was backed up and we did not get on anywhere near our scheduled tee time. Pace of play was also very slow.
First time
Course was fun and challenging . Played very fast . Easter Sunday light morning booking no one in front of us . Enjoyed our 18 holes . Will return
nice place nice people
Great place to play it's very challenging from the back tees gold or blue, the greens are amazing 2014. The cost was also very reasonable, about 90% of all other prices around St. Louis were more expensive. I would highly recommend this course.
Great value with great people
We arrived about 20 minutes early and they got us right off. The attendant was very friendly, explaining course maintenance for the day. We breezed through our round and everyone was Super Friendly. Between the guy at the counter to the guy parking carts, everyone was very nice. Plus....we played by ourselves, but the people we did see on the course were very friendly. If I had one complaint, and it is small, is that a couple of times we could not find the ladies tee box for my wife. But in the course's defense, they looked like they were redoing some tee boxes and leaves were pretty heavy in the rough and around the tee boxes, so it would be easy to miss them.
Nice course. Neat clubhouse.
Paid $10 to play on a rainy day. Course was wet (soggy) so difficult to judge. Greens were fast and in good shape in general. Lots of mature trees and on a fall day the colors were great. Even with high number of trees always found my ball. Good number of hazards water, bunkers, tree lined fairways. A little out of the way up the river road but worth the drive. Clubhouse is nice. I pretty much had the course to myself and played the first 9 in one hour and fifteen minutes. I enjoyed this course and would recommend it. We are playing there again this weekend.
Lockhaven is a very well kept as well as challenging course with many very neat holes through out .
The only issue we had was that their was a foursome playing in front of 2 twosomes, us being the second. The course was very busy which is good for everyone. A little golf edicut would sure have been appreciated by many players, not just us. Why in world would these people be so rude and inconsiderate is beyond me?
Lockhaven is a challenging course for skill levels, the greens are blazing fast .

Park like setting provided great golf.
Although we were asked to drive in the rough as the fairways had been over seeded, it was not inconvenient just a little unusual. The greens were In good shape. The fairways are wide and although tree-lined, we always found our balls.
Pleasant surprise
It was the first time I played the course. Driving by on the great river road, the little bit of the course that can be seen appears flat. However, the course is actually fairly hilly with a nice variety of holes (length, doglegs in both directions, elevation, etc.). Course was in very good shape.
best deal going
great value. service of staff always pleasant. course still looking good. one of my favorites
Great price at $16.00 but not worth the drive.
Received a great deal on golf now, $16.00 per player which included the golf now fee so we thought we would give is a try. A lot of crab grass growing in the greens which i find unacceptable.
Tees boxes were not in the best of shape either.
decent course with good value
Paid $14. 4 of 18 tee boxes were not cut, a couple greens were mediocre and little slow, but the rest were great, smooth and medium speed. Fairway grass is consistent, but longer than most courses. Fairways are pretty wide, good mix of trees, water, doglegs, and bunker usage. As a golfer who plays many different courses, this one is average. I would play it again, but not for over $30.
