On the mend
Ever since Troon took over and Ben Nachway was put in charge, this course has been improving. Just make sure the ball marks on the green and the divots on the fairways are fixed. Ben is doing a wonderful job. Also, kudos to the starters.
Orchard Valley
I haven't played at this course since 2018 but I forgot how challenging the course was. Water was in play in the 2 out of three holes. I did come away with a par on the first hole and the 6th hole. Over all the play was good and I would revisit later in the year after having a few more rounds under my belt.
Thank you Anthony! We look forward to seeing you this summer!
Good course, maintenance needed
Fairways in good conditions, except for numerous divots that need to be filled. Almost all bunkers are in immediate need of repair. Greens are in average condition.
Hi u000002679259, thank you for sharing your feedback with us. We appreciate your comments regarding the course conditions and will work on addressing the issues you mentioned, especially with the divots and bunkers. Please understand that this time of year in Chicagoland, golf course conditions will not be in peak form, which is why we offer a drastically reduced offseason greens fee rate. We hope to have the opportunity to provide you with a better experience in the future when the weather gets better and conditions improve!
Not ready for play
Not ready for play, no tee box markers . Greens need to be cut and rolled
thank you for the feedback. While this is the earliest we have ever opened the greens, we are working hard with Mother Nature to get the course into shape ASAP. This is the reason why we offer an offseason rate, as to allow an opportunity to get outside and enjoy the outdoors during the first week of March! We hope to serve you during the summer, when the golf course is in full bloom!

Carts on paths only?!
I didn't appreciate that I was charged for a cart even though they were limited to paths, and we ended up walking a TON. Made for a slow day for amateurs that need time to spot their ball. Course layout is great, but it was all still coming back to life after winter.
Golf Now is misleading
This review is more about GolfNow not really the course itself. They use temporary greens until April. We played our round in February not knowing because we booked through GolfNow. The course website clearly states this information so they are not at fault. Really disappointed in GolfNow as that should be a pretty simple disclaimer to add when booking.

Drove 45 min to find out it was cart path only and all greens were temporary..they didn't even cut the grass to make it like a green. Place not worth the drive.
Hi, OVGC GM here. We’re sorry to hear you did not have an enjoyable experience at our course. We do try to give everyone a heads up that we are utilizing temporary greens and cart path-only by communicating this info on our website, booking engine, social media, e-mail, phone and tee time reservation center communications. We expect conditions to be closer to what you would usually experience soon. We appreciate your feedback, please reach out directly if you’d like to chat further!

Orchard Valley 11/16
It was a very pleasant day considering that it was mid-November. My friend and I were paired up with two men whom we had not met previously. They were excellent playing partners and the round went very well.
My major concern about course conditions was the quality of sand in the bunkers; the ground under the initial layer of sand was very firm and playing out of it was difficult. Also there were no rakes in most of the bunkers.
Hi u000002679259, thank you for your feedback! We're thrilled to hear that you've noticed improvements under Ben's leadership at Troon. Your point about the ball marks and divots is duly noted and we'll continue to work on maintaining the course to the highest standards. We'll be sure to pass along your kudos to the starters as well!
