Golfer Reviews
Challenging course
Weather great!
Course in good shape.
Staff very friendly.
We had a great time overall!
Decent for the price
Nice course, only played front nine. Good condition, greens very good condition. Carts are old and pace was slow. Golfnow price was great.
Good Value
Hadn't played this course in 20 years. I was pleasantly and positively surprised with the course conditions. Played on a Sunday morning which was somewhat crowded but still finished in a little over 4 hours. I will play it again.
No carts left
Got to the course at 9:35 for our 9:45 tee time and we were told they were out of carts. They overbooked. The course was packed..this is unacceptable. This ruined my beautiful Sunday of playing golf.
Great course for average golfer
Course in great shape. Tee boxes labeled very well with hole number and yardage. A number of lengthy holes that are challenging,
not bad for so early in the season
i would play this course again
Good Value
First time playing VO. Played with a buddy on a hot deal. Great value for what it cost. Front 9 not many surprises large fairways long drives lots of mature trees. Played like the large course that it is. Spread out and quiet Back 9 lots of hills and not as forgiving. Not in 5 star shape but for what we paid worth every penny We had a great time.
Decent course with good price!
I booked the round through golfnow website. The course was wide open on Sunday morning, the staff were friendly. We had a great round of golf and finished it in 4 hrs 15 min.
Casual Golfers only!!!
Absolutely horrible course conditions. Not the course for a serious round.
Interesting, But Needs Work
I'll start with the bad. Carts aren't in the best shape. Tee boxes are super shaggy (think rough). All the greens have brown, dead spots so your ball is sure to skip. Pace of play was a little over 5 hours.
The best thing this course has going for it is its uniqueness. I'm almost certain that a few holes on the back 9 serve as part of the ski resort in the winter. Massive uphills and downhills, not to mention a ski lift that acts as an obstacle on Hole #12.
All in all, Villa Olivia needs a lot of work. It's a good 18-hole course for beginners, however I would like to see this course rejuvenated because it offers something that you don't typically see in the suburbs of Chicago.
Disappointed
Used to play this course regularly before it was bought by the Park District. It was in much nicer condition when privately owned. Looks like the PD got in over their head. Carts are old and beat up, struggled getting up hills. Tee boxes and traps had grab grass growing in them. Sprinklers set up and running in middle of fairways. Lost of dead trees and weeds growing all around the course. Broken sign poles with screws sticking out of them. PD should get out of the golf business and let someone else return the course to what it once was. Sad...
Villa Olivia golf - can you come back?
Played as a bargain last week through Golf Now. It's been many years since I last played. It needs a lot of tender loving care to bring it up to a level where people will want to pay more than a bargain price on a regular basis.
Villa Olivia
Here's my recommendation for Villa Olivia - it's an enjoyable Golf Course in the summer and a Ski-Slope in the winter; you can also host a diner party there with a really good view of the grounds, summer or winter. Sign up with GolfNow and enjoy 18-Holes with a cart and it's very nice!
If under $25, good value
The course is rough at best. The greens are shaggy, the fairways and rough are similar. However, for the hot deal price, I have no complaints. As a low handicapper, this is not a course that I would play usually but it was a good value for under $15 including cart!
nice layout
It was the first time we played there and was real happy we did. the course overall was in great shape as were the greens. Some fairways were a little narrow but overall a very nice course.
Rain in Golf
Was not good whether on Monday.
it been but whether every Monday.
6 holes in 3 hours
Played 6 holes in 3 hours. As I was driving in from the 7the tee box I passed 3, 5-somes. As I go to return the cart key the guy working the pro shop said it was pretty typical for a Saturday.
I'll most likely never be back!
