Settler's Hill Golf Course
About
Settler's Hill Golf Course sprawls across a diverse landscape that ranges from windswept highlands to mature woodlands. The course actually sits on the site of a former landfill but you would never be able to tell with its rolling topography that has become its signature characteristic. When playing, you'll be transported from the Scottish highlands to the forests of northern Michigan without even having to leave Chicagoland. Links-style and parkland holes are interspersed with water to create a test of your skills you won't soon forget. The greens have their interesting quirks and they are framed with deep bunkers and the rolling fairways demand accuracy. Besides the challenging round and affordable rates, Settler's Hill Golf Course's west-central location in Batavia near the Fox River also makes it a popular choice for meeting friends for a round.

Interesting layout
We have played here before. Staff is OUTSTANDING. Course was a bit beat up and quite a few bare spots. Green were crazy fast and hard to read. We will play again, but not our first choice.
Poor conditions
I've played this course in the past, but not for a couple of years. Was very disappointed in the conditions. Greens were beat up and the tee boxes were terrible. A few tee boxes did not have any flat areas. Having to tee off with the ball way above or below your feet is absurd. Large areas of mud or dirt on the greens. Going to put this course on the Do Not Play list.
Pace of play
I have played the course 3 times in the last month. The course has had a significant amount of play. Many divots all over course. Tee boxes are in poor shape. Both the course is enjoyable. However, pace of play is really, really slow. Needs some controls in place to speed it up.
Highly Neglected and poorly maintained
It appears the management has forgotten about the course. It is in REALLY bad shape. Yes, the weather did some damage, but the condition of this course is far beyond the damage caused by bad weather. Until the conditions improve, I will not go back or recommend this course to anyone. A very good lay out wasted! SAD!
Love the layout of the course with the hills. Played 18 in under 2:30. Course was pretty beat up from the lack of rain. Will play this course again.
Fun Layout -Needs Updating
I always enjoy playing this course but each time I play the condition of the course deteriorates. While still in OK shape, there is a lot that could be done with the tee boxes and sand traps. No GPS in the carts and the beverage cart only takes cash.
Enjoyed the layout but poor conditions
First time playing Settler's Hill and would play it again once they get the course in better conditions as the fairways were in bad condition and very dry. The layout was very enjoyable with the par 3's and par 5's very much target golf.
Just Okay...
Have played Settler's Hill several times the last few years. Unfortunately, each time we play, the shape of the course gets worse. Many tee boxes were completely shot (no grass, just dirt) and several of the sand traps played as "ground under repair". Not sure if we will go back as the course itself does not improve. I will say this.. it is fun to play on the elevated par 3's!
Like the layout of the course. Pace of play was very slow. We waited on every tee box. Men’s Tee boxes were in terrible shape. Greens were in average shape(not great). Fairways were average(some rough spots). I would not go back unless I knew the course was in better shape. Too bad because with the layout it has great potential.
