Settler's Hill Golf Course
About
Settler's Hill Golf Course sprawls across a diverse landscape that ranges from windswept highlands to mature woodlands. The course actually sits on the site of a former landfill but you would never be able to tell with its rolling topography that has become its signature characteristic. When playing, you'll be transported from the Scottish highlands to the forests of northern Michigan without even having to leave Chicagoland. Links-style and parkland holes are interspersed with water to create a test of your skills you won't soon forget. The greens have their interesting quirks and they are framed with deep bunkers and the rolling fairways demand accuracy. Besides the challenging round and affordable rates, Settler's Hill Golf Course's west-central location in Batavia near the Fox River also makes it a popular choice for meeting friends for a round.

Very disappointed with new version of course
Very disappointed with new version of course. I was expecting a lot more than four holes being redone and a new clubhouse that is not even built yet being where the second hole currently is. This course is very penal even for a decent golfer if you stray of the fairway. The only good thing I can say right now is that at some point in the future you’ll be able to play nine holes there and go to your car or have a beer afterwards without having a play 13 like you did before.
Opening letdown
We were excited to see the updates and improvements.
They improved many of the tee boxes, and sand traps.
Greens must be new base and they were furry. I could not hit it hard enough on most putts. Fairways needed some love. The thing that really seemed bad to us was not even a cart person on the course the entire day. It was hot and really humid Friday and we needed liquids. After 9 we drove back to barn clubhouse to get liquids and food. (Teed off around 10:30). No food. Asked for ice. No ice. Ice machine on back order. What???? We did know it was opening right? Maybe bags of ice from a store? We survived and will give it another chance but felt a bit more effort and care towards its customers would have been nice.
Should’ve Stayed Closed
Extremely disappointed in the course condition after being closed for renovations for a year and a half. Crab grass everywhere around the greens. Dead patches all over the greens (that aren’t new greens). NO water available on any tee boxes - kind of important when it’s 95 degrees. NO beverage cart. At least setup a grill and a stand with some drinks at the will-be halfway house. Pace - slower than molasses in January. Truly felt taken advantage of paying full price. Should’ve just stayed closed all season if it’s not ready instead of trying to squeeze a few dollars out and destroying any loyalty players had to the course. Get it together.
Nomore
Very disappointing, not in great shape , staff very nice but not a fun day . Won’t be back
Only 9 holes available
Booked on golfnow for 18 holes with a cart and got to the course only to find out only 9 holes of the course is available because the course is starting construction on some holes.
Settlers Hill
Tee boxes and greens in very rough sharpe. Course layout has changed since I played there last. Staff was very friendly.
Fun time
Staff is friendly, course could use work in some areas but it’s a fun time everytime
Fun and Challenging
This course is one of the most fun around. I love the dramatic grade changes.
Nice course especially for price
Very nice and fun course. Challenging but fair. Great condition. Some very nice long and short holes. Good place to play regularly
A good layout, being allowed to decay and deteriorate
I have been playing this course for at least 12 years. It is a well laid out track and is fairly challenging. However, in the last three years, the management has practically neglected this course. Drainage problems all around, fairways and the immediate rough are a disaster. The only maintenance they do is occasionally mowing the course. Basically this course is being treated as a cash cow!!
