Settler's Hill Golf Course sprawls across a diverse landscape that ranges from windswept highlands to mature woodlands. The course actually sits on the site of a former landfill but you would never be able to tell with its rolling topography that has become its signature characteristic. When playing, you'll be transported from the Scottish highlands to the forests of northern Michigan without even having to leave Chicagoland. Links-style and parkland holes are interspersed with water to create a test of your skills you won't soon forget. The greens have their interesting quirks and they are framed with deep bunkers and the rolling fairways demand accuracy. Besides the challenging round and affordable rates, Settler's Hill Golf Course's west-central location in Batavia near the Fox River also makes it a popular choice for meeting friends for a round.

Save your money

This is a dump on a dump! The course was in poor shape and we kept having problems with the golf cart. They moved hole one to hole two which made no sense at all. Also got screwed out of the 20% off with tee off when I booked it.

Waste of money

Quit after 9. Entire course was like playing off of concrete. May would play again if they lowered price to $20 a round.

Course needs some water and tender care..fairways were sparse of grass and rough was.thin...I do like the layout, as it is more challenging than before the recent renovation...

Expensive for the condition it’s in

Quite a bit overpriced for the condition the course is in. The layout is a ton of fun, especially when the wind is blowing. Cool views from high up. Lots of challenging blind shots. The condition of the course is really disappointing. Tee boxes, fairways, and greens were in really rough shape. No halfway house operating.

Avoid this like the plague.

This was the worst experience I’ve ever had a a golf course.

1) Arguing w the starter if we all paid. He had an attitude and couldn’t reach on of the only other 2 employees at the course on his radio. I ended up calling the front desk to get it resolved.

We left after 12 holes. I took 2:30 for the front with no sign of a ranger or employee on the course.

When you don’t am have a ranger your get bros blasting mumble rap, fivesomes and confusion.

The greens had disease and a ridiculous amount of unfixed ball marks. These ball marks were days old so they can’t just blame players.

The course is completely dried out. We got 90 degree bounces from fairway and fringe into the rough or out of bounds.

There wasn’t any water on the course and the only indication there wasn’t a bar cart was a small sign inside. I saw it and purchased drinks but there wasn’t any ice.

Our cart had brakes that barely worked and a parking brake that wouldn’t engage.

So if you’re looking for terrible customer service, slow play and a terrible course spend your $56.50 at this dump.

Fun track

Not the best conditions on the course…but for the price hard to complain. And lots of good roll this fall….has holes that are fun to play…I recommend a sunset round …one of the best views around! I’d definitely play again, staff is always great and accommodating.

Green are the worst condition I’ve seen

They are really letting this place go. The greens are tore to shreds. Half mud half grass. The back nine the greens were punched but they never disclosed when booking. I wouldn’t be that mad if they actually took care of the greens otherwise. Atrocious

So much potential

Fun course to play- just seems it opened too early after the renovations. everything is mowed, and trimmed well, but just needs some love and roots to grow.

At only $40 it was all right to play

The course (fairways and greens)has numerous ground under Repair areas that are not marked and quite a few that are.

The Rough has a lot of bare and tight lies due to not much grass.

Renovation reject

Course in Very poor condition. Dry, terrible tee boxes and some worn out greens. Signature hole now gone after renovation. What a stupid thing to do. No concession stand, didn't even look like they watered anything.. Used to love playing here but now what a major disappointment !!!
