White Deer Run Golf Course
About
Situated on the Cuneo Estate in Vernon Hills, White Deer Run Golf Club has a beautiful landscape dotted with sparkling lakes. The rolling terrain provides plenty of elevation changes, meaning there are some uneven lies and the occasional blind shot in store for you. There are not many trees but numerous bunkers lurk beside the greens and, of course, water is a pretty prominent presence throughout the golf course. Due to the plentiful and strategically placed hazards, the course puts a premium on accuracy. The layout is challenging but fair and it is also player friendly enough for beginners, offering ample room off of the tees. White Deer Run Golf Club's design contributes greatly to the course's playability, but that is also partly due to the immaculately manicured fairways and fast, well conditioned greens.

This course has great features

The course was not ready to be opened
Green and tees were never touched, on the greens and tees over 4 month old goose waste were all over to the point we gave up putting. on the tees we had to look for spot to tee off without stepping on it. Sand trap were never touched also, there were big holes and garbage all over. The whole course were covered with old and new goose waste. All the restrooms were lock up. When I complained to the staff on duty, he showed no care. I want my money back.
Great course but expensive
Great course, nice setup, well maintained. Some holes are very challenge. Got a deal from Golfnow otherwise the green fee is expensive
rude ranger
this rude dude has been hurrying us up starting from the 9th hole up to the 11th hole, overall we finished the round in 4 1/2 hours. Also the group behind us in the 10th hole hit prematurely while we are still in the 10th fairway and this ranger was still there and he did not prevent them from doing so, overall the other members of the golfing staff are nice and the course is great considering the time of the year we played except for this RANGER GUY
Greens in perfect super fast shape!
Greens are maintained at top shelf level roll like a pool table hold well. fairways and tees are in excellent shape especially for this time of year!
Operations manager not professional
Course ok.
It was windy.
Manager Of Operations attitude not good.
I got in trouble b/c I brought a sandwich on a 42 degree day. Last time I checked no cart girl on a 42 degree day. And 9/10 courses no refreshment stand is open. I brought A sandwich and got preached at b/c I was told there were 4 hour stale hot dogs by which I could of eat. Nothing like an operations manager not appreciating you spending $55 on a 42 degree day. Course was ok tough holes and fun holes 9 and 10. Hole 4 should be closed there is goose droppings everywhere. I hit the green on the tee and my ball was destroyed by goose droppings. I wish I had a picture it belongs in the hall of shame greens. Overall the worst green I ever played in my life. Where was the clean up crew? Probably eating those stale hot dogs that the operations pushes. Regardless course plays well but course is comparable to Whisper Creek. At least at WC you feel appreciated.
A great course
Went out there on a 45 degree day and went through in under 4 hours in one of the most enjoyable golf experiences I've had. Although the rough had been thoroughly cored and the greens recently aerated, it was all done is such a way that the course conditions were still incredibly enjoyable. The greens were still very flat and rolled very true (and fast). The fairways were in immaculate condition and the undulation of the course is enough to make you think but not outrageous. Different green shapes and sizes make each approach unique and the GPS in the gold carts is about the best I have used complete with hole flyovers and the ability to send your scorecard via email at the end of the round.
Course was in great shape!
Always enjoy playing this course. Very well mantained, great layout, fast and true greens.
Good condition but
Overall the green fees are relatively high except in spring and fall. Fall they usually airate the greens and while the greens were still fast, the course usually does not inform you when they airate. This year when I payed it was not bad (about 2 weeks after they airrated but last year half the greens were just airated and were not the best. I normally don't have a big problem as long as they let me know.
Beeches galore, large well maintained greens
My first time at this course. Very nice design & condition especially for so late in the season. Very windy, which made a challenging course even more difficult.
Numerous bunkers in play surrounding greens & many affecting drives & 2nd shots on par 5's.
I would like to come back to try again on a calmer day & hopefully score much better.
Great Course
White Deer Run is probably one of the best maintained courses in Lake County. They consistently have awesome greens that roll quick and true all year, even during the heavy playing season. I have been playing this course for the last 6 years and it keeps getting better every year.
Good layout
Good layout, some interesting holes. A little pricey for the experience.
