The Right Manager makes a Big difference
Played here last year and it was absolutely terrible. Tee times stacked together, slow pace and over all not very good. Well this year totally different because Mike the manager was totally in control not the players. He was at the first tee box instructing who would be playing with each other. He moved people gracefully and was in total control. He also checked you in and when I finished my round he was washing a cart in the back. Wow! where have you been all these years. Anyway I would definately play here again because now the course is in control. The fairways were not bad for this time of the year and the green were good. Pace of play was good because of the manager Mike getting players off right and in a timely manner.
Great Staff
Special thanks to the two staffers working the check-in and carts They were extremely patient and professional as they adeptly handled a shortage of golf carts before our tee time. Course pace was brisk and the condition of the course was fine but the aerating of the greens caused them to be a bit bumpy.
Solid Course for Beginners
Definitely slow rate of play but that’s great for beginners.

Classic muni 9 hole
This course is all par fours except one par three. It has a decent layout and has a variety of hole designs, keeping it from feeling redundant despite most holes being a similar length. The scenery is nice while the pace of play is really, really bad. Conditions were fair with the exception of a couple spots. All in all, the location means I will be back.
Not enough value for the price
I played at Billy Caldwell on a Saturday morning and the course was quite busy. The staff was friendly and the location of the course is good. The pace of play was extremely slow. There was a foursome in front of our group that waited for the green to be cleared before they teed off. Unfortunately they weren’t able to drive the ball more than 100 yards which led to a 2.5 hour round. The course needs a ranger to move people along. The course is wide open and doesn’t have much trouble. It’s a good place to practice your long irons and woods but there are no sand traps. Also, minimal water. For the price, I’d rather play 9 somewhere else.
