Quick 9, Pretty Course, Few Hazards, Be ready to wait for a cart
This is a cute 9-hole course that is fairly level, has only 1 water hazard and no sand, reasonable rough and is nice and lush. This course is pretty easily walked, even for those who may be used to riding in a cart. Not a lot of hills and holes aren't terribly long. We waited nearly 30 minutes past our tee time for carts and a few people waiting with us said it was a chronic issue here, but they gave us a coupon for our next visit for waiting. While the course wasn't anything life-changing and is low-frill, the ranger and cashier were pleasant, course was clean and pretty, pricing is really reasonable, access and parking is easy. Totally will be back.
Fast Pace
The course is in very good shape and the pace of play for a late afternoon was good. Kevin in the pro shop is excellent and gets you through the front end process quickly and without issue.
Thank you for taking the time to play at
Billy Caldwell! We are always happy to hear when a guest enjoys their round of golf and overall experience at our facility. We hope to see you again soon!
First time out
Course in good condition on a beautiful day. Nice time spent with good friend and her high school aged son...the first time they had golfed together. Fun time!! We will go again...soon.
We are delighted to hear that you had an enjoyable experience during your round! We look forward to a beautiful golf season and look forward to seeing you soon!
It's a good course for the average player.
It's a great course for the average Joe who wants to play and doesn't want to break the bank to play golf.
Disappointed
In fairness to course, it apparently had many trees damaged by the recent storm however; the ground was rock hard, to a point that made it quite a chore to even get a tee in the ground. Many iron shots sprayed in wrong direction due to there being no give to the grass. For a season where we've had record rainfalls, this was very disappointing.
Thank you for your feedback, although we have had record rainfalls this season, recent weeks of high heat and little rain have dried out the rainfall from the beginning of the season. We have had a slight break in the high temperatures and expect the course to be back to normal conditions soon. We appreciate your business and hope you will be back to play again soon!
You get what you pay for
Overall a very solid course. Not necessarily anything special but is a fun course with nice fairways and tough greens. As long as you are able to put the ball straight you are golden and will steer clear of any real trouble. As part of the forest preserve golf group In the area the surrounding forests are the dominant hazard and the main threat of losing balls/adding strokes.

Good course for practicing. Usually after work. Pace is slow and players are generally beginners (a lot of denim shorts if you know what I mean). Tee boxes and fairways so-so. Greens slow and a lot of un-repaired ball marks. OK overall, beats going to the range.
This course is great for the weekend players.
I've played this course several times and it's a great course for the money, frendly staff, good course conditions. A all around great course to play.
Great value!!
Billy Caldwell has always been a pleasure to play at. I have limited time to play golf so Billy Caldwell is my go to course for its fast, fun play. You can not beat the price for 9 holes with a cart.
Better than most Forest Preserve Courses
Cook Country Forest Preserve course. Par 35 one par 3, no par 5s. Wide fairways, generally tree-lined. No sand, two holes have water Pretty well-maintained; course gets a lot of play. Great course for beginners, couples. Typically, you pay, line-up at first tee, and arrange your own game. Course allows singles, twosomes to go out.
Thank you for taking the time to write this review. We are sorry about the long wait for the carts. We do realize the importance of out at the correct tee time and we are working on ways to improve this aspect of your experience. We are glad that this issue did not get in the way of your overall experience at Billy Caldwell Golf Course and we hope to see you back on the course soon!
