Solid public course
I always love going to play Robert A. Black. nice short course with some fun challenging holes. It's not going to host a Pro-Am any time soon but there's a convenient putting and chipping green, and a staff that seemed very nice.
green condition
I played here more than 100times..short little city 9 hole course that better condition than most other muni courses..greens should be faster..they were like fairway ..very soft slow green...should wheight rolled and cut!!
some time okay but not consistent..
bathrooms and bad attitudes
When you go to a golf course, you expect some level of professionalism. The bathroom was the first red flag. Management clearly doesn't care what people think about the facilities: flies, feces, urine and a terrible smell. Simply unacceptable.
Then there was the added frustration of being booked back to back foursomes and two-somes and being rushed multiple times while trying to enjoy my game. This shouldn't be on the golfers. If we came to play there should be at least enough time between rounds for us to play leisurely. If you expect people to be finished in a certain time period, make that known. Otherwise, it's not the golfers problem.
Just all around a bad experience, especially showing up at 6:30 am. Not relaxing at all.
Challenging 9 holer in great shape
I’ve recently moved to the area and this has quickly become my favorite course in the city to play a quick 9. Simple course layout but features some challenges.
Best Place in Chicago for Quick 9 Hole
I love that I can ALWAYS visit Robert Black for.a quick 9 holes….the staff is fantastic and I get an opportunity to play with some great golfers as well…kudos to Lance and the staff.
Nice course.
Challenging for a small city golf course. Some fun layouts. Could use a few more amenities around the course. Water and ball washers to mention a couple. Well wirth it.
Course operator here. Thanks for coming out to play RB, and for taking the time to give us a heads-up about your experience. We are in the process of planning for 2024, and the bathrooms at Robert A Black are on our list of necessary improvements. As far as pace of play, we space our tee times at 10 minutes to allow appropriate gaps between groups, rather than focusing on greater revenue opportunities with 8-minute tee times. We do however want to maintain a reasonably quick pace of play to be respectful to all golfers.
