bad customer service
I showed up with my foursome to play but found out upon arrival that they weren't going to honor my golfnow deal which was for golf w/cart,breakfast and range balls. I was treated very rudely and told that I was only going to get golf as part of the deal. I then showed them the confirmation that I printed which they said didn't matter so all I got was golf. What happened to the customer always being right? As for the course I would suggest if we have any measurable amount of rain within 5-6 days of you playing not. The course must be on some kind of floodplain just about every hole of overally saturated with water, had I known that I probably would not have played it. On a positive note the wait staff there was excellent. (Marylou)
Wish it had been better...
I booked my tee time via Golf Now and unbeknownst to me at the time, there was an outing that went off before my tee off. And this wasn't a shotgun start. I was paired with 2 gentlemen and that was fine. But because the course was so packed, and because they didn't shotgun the start, we were only able to finish nine holes...IN OVER THREE HOURS. There were 3 groups of four backed up at every hole. It was excruciatingly slow. The course was in fair to slightly below shape except for the greens (which were pretty nice and very small - which I did like) - burnt fair way spots on a few holes, etc. The staff was very friendly, but it's clear to me after my visit that this is a very heavily played track and I'd rather just spend my money elsewhere where I'm not going to go crazy sitting in a cart for hours while waiting for slow group and an overcrowded course.
always a league outing
there always seem to be a league playing at this course. this slows the pace a lot. overall a good course.
Great Value
We found the course to be in very nice shape and has a unique layout, with 6 par 3's, 4's and 5's. After the round, we went in for a beer, and the bartendress was friendly, offering us a sample(s) before we decided what we wanted.
Definitely a place worthy of returning.
the course has a great layout, only if they would maintain it.
the course was a cow pasture, greens were bumpy and loaded with sand or something.
Great deal & really nice course
We enjoyed playing here after many years absence. We live in the city but used to live in the South Suburbs so it was more convenient that it is now, but it only took an hour to get there so it wasn't too bad. The course is challenging but in nice condition though the rough is really rough!
Great course for the money!
Great course, that is a good challenge with some narrow fairways and small greens. Good test for the golfer that is trimg to get better!
Not bad
So, course was a little wet as a result of some recent rain. Course was in OK shape, overall. No major complaints. Some of the greens have rather steep slopes, and a few of the holes were cut halfway down the slope, making keeping a putt near the hole virtually impossible. And the greens weren't even running fast. I'd hate to see it in August. No cart girl, so only option for food/drink is at the turn. Fun layout, though. Lots of par 5's/3's. Good variety of holes. Not very long, but greens are on the small side.
Decent course to hit around on
I was pleasantly surprised by this course. It was in great condition the price I paid to play.
The clubhouse is lacking in terms of food, which is a big downer since as soon as you take off from the first tee, you won't see anything for a while. Keep in mind, this was early in the season and there weren't many people on the golf course, so they may have food carts that come around. Regardless, bring snacks.
Also, they had recently burned the wildlife areas, so this course may but a lot more difficult than I give it credit for. Carts are old and gas powered, but if that's the problem, you should just walk.
On the positive, the first hole is great! No reason to go for anything but the center of the green as a gust of wind will pull you short or push you to either side and the green is easy to play. Beautiful hole. The back nine is stunning the whole way through.
I would recommend this course if you get a deal, although there are better courses if you are willing to drive this far out of the city.
STAY AWAY! They don't like golfnow'ers
I book on line at golfnow for $15. Go to the course and the guy says their fall rate is $22. I said I made a deal on golfnow for $15 and had an email. He said he saw the same reservation. Bottom line, I only got to play 9 holes when I paid for 18. Not that it mattered, there was a 15 minute wait at every hole. 3 1/2 hours to play 9 holes. The entire course had 1 or 2 groups waiting on the tee boxes. It's November that is just poor course management. Now for the course; railroad grade fairways, divot filled greens and leaves everywhere. 4 times I lost a ball in the fairway in 4 to 6 inch piles of leaves that are 20 feet across. NO FUN!
Dear u0004648830 Stay away Golfnow"ers from Frankfort
After reading your response as the manager I would like to respond. Yes Lincoln Oaks was very busy on Saturday November 9 Over 140 golfers played the course that day!. We had a 1/2 hour frost delay in the morning so times were slightly backed up which backed up play on the course.. You checked in at 12:32 for your 12:56 tee time.. When checking in you did not indicate that you had prepaid on Golfnow so my desk person gave you our twilight rate of $22. Once you indicated that you had prepaid on golf now you were checked in and given keys to a cart and told to go to the first tee. Yes the course was full of leaves despite the fact that I had a full crew chop and blow leaves starting at 6am that morning. We have over a THOUSAND 80 year old trees on the course and with the 30-40 mile per hour winds that afternoon leaves were everywhere. Because of the wind and leaves play was slower than normal. but according to my records you teed off at 12:52 and made the turn at 2:23 PM. That means you played in 2 hours and 31 minutes which is longer than normal. I believe pace of play was slow due to wind and conditions. I played the same day teeing off at 10:30 and my round was played in 4 hours and 51 minutes. Yes it was tough conditions with the wind and leaves which slowed down play. If the 9 holes felt like 3.5 hours I agree but I had a great time playing with and against the wind on November 9th.
90% percent of my GOLFNOW players have given my a course a positive rating and have enjoyed the conditions at Lincoln Oaks. I feel bad that you did not see the same conditions that over 38,000 thousand loyal golfers to Lincoln Oaks see every year!. I enjoy meeting the new Golf Now players and the only comment I usually get is. Boy your parking lot is filled and you are a busy course! We pride ourselves on course condition and custumer service and hopefully your next adventure to Lincoln Oaks will be better! And yes I am sure the course will be busy with happy golfers that enjoy playing at a Family owned Golf Course! We are open all winter and as I write this we are chopping and blowing leaves for our Golfers who will be playing Lincoln Oaks this week and weekend! At no point did we ask our Golf Now clients to stay away and I feel bad that you felt that way on November 9th! Mark Haines My personal cell is 708 372 2704.
Good Place to Play
Nice course in good shape to test your skills at a great value. This is not a super difficult course but small greens increase shot making needs.
Love this course, it's staff is amazing, and it is always an amazing time out on the links whenever I get out to this course!!!!
Every time i have went to this course the staff has always been amazing and extremely friendly. The course has the right mix of challenge but not to the extremes. I highly recommend this course to any and all for a great experience!!!
Very nice conditions and it is great that they delayed airification
Only thing that made the day a little less enjoyable was the pace of play. There were too many twosomes playing and not being joined together. Had to wait to tee off on almost every hole.
Great value
This course is challenging, and fun to play. I play here often. Great rates, and very friendly people work here.
Over Crowded
I really like this course and it is always well maintained. There were too many "pro's" playing and the rangers really did nothing to move things along.
this course is fun to play
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////that,s all folks! has a nice round.
Response to GoalieO who played on July 1 and gave course poor rating.
On Monday July 1 Goalie0 played Lincoln Oaks and gave us a unfair rating so I felt the need to respond as a person that cares about Lincoln Oaks. We normally do not have any tee times available on Mondays due to League play, but we got the Morning League a chance to play Lincolnshire Country Club across the street so we openned up the course! He indicated that he played in 4 hours and 45 minutes which is a 1/2 hour slower than usually. If Goalie O would have been on time for his tee time he would not have run into my afternoon league. He was about 15 minutes late for his tee time so when he made the turn he got caught in the flow of one of our 9 hole leagues. We do allow some of our leagues to play 5 somes. Most of our leagues play in 2 hours and 15 minutes for nine holes.Actually Goalie O played in 4.15min.Sorry we are a busy course that golfers want to play!! Our course is in excellant condition and I have alot of pride in Lincoln Oaks. Hopefully your next round at Lincoln Oaks will be better experience, but show up on time! Management that cares about its golfers!
Good mix
The front 9 is a fun mix of par 3's and 5's. Some holes are side by side on another which caused a lot of people playing in each others fairways. This slowed pace of play. The greens are small but generally well maintained although one hole had deep gouges taken out of it. All in all a nice course with friendly staff. Better to play when it's not busy.
Sloooooooooooooow play? Who cares?
Havn't played this course in a few years...and have always basically liked it. BUT, beware when you head out that between leagues and the fact that fivesomes (two in front of me) are tolerated, it will take way too long to play the course. To be fair, someone did try to break up the five-somes, but a short time later they rejoined. Some golfers feel the rules don't apply to them! When we complained to course officials, they just shrugged. Hey, they make money on leagues, so who needs us. See ya! It's a shame too, because the course, save the tee boxes, is in good shape, and it's a fun old traditional-wooded track to play.
i just love the set-up of the course
the course lulls you into a false sense of security and then bites your head off :-)
Are you sure you have the right course. I take pride in Lincoln Oaks. Cows do not graze on Bent Fairways! Greens are always in great shape. Had one green that didnt fully recover until July due to ice damage from the hardest freeze in 100 years.
